We dodged a huge bullet

Thank goodness that racism and homophobia are confined to North Carolina.  Can you imagine how awful it would be if that shit was every where in the USA?  I'm so glad that places like California, Florida, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, and Alabama are havens of clear thinking people who accept and celebrate all those who are different from themselves.

Maybe we should give NC back to the Native Americans.  Yeah. that would serve all the racists and gay haters right!

The little talked about after effects of marriage equality

Once the institution of marriage is 'all gayed up' the following things are bound to happen:

Children will be forced to spray their living space to keep from catching 'Christian cooties.'

Ironic protests will break out.
Gay scientists will keep searching for a cure for HIV/AIDS.
Ironic exercising will break out in school gyms all over America.

Christian children will be forced to marry undocumented Mexican lesbians and icy blonde Canadians.

The stupid, it burns

"I can foresee rampant violence in the military if macho men must share shower facilities, bunk beds in a submarine, or fox holes with sex-crazed gay males." Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition

That's some statement she made huh. It shows her to be not only stupid but also hateful, bigoted, and ignorant of how the military works.

First of all gay men who want to serve in the military are macho as hell. You can't serve in the military and not be macho to a big degree. But in this sick woman's mind all gay males are limp wristed lisping pansy-boys who camp it up and scream at the drop of the hat like pre teen girls.

Secondly, gay males in general are as sex crazed as straight ones. But in Lafferty's tiny mind being gay means you want to stick your cock, tongue, finger, fist in any male hole you can find (or vice versa) and it's the only thing you ever have on your mind.

Thirdly, when you join the military the first thing they do is break you down so that you willingly become part of the team and you give up your individuality for the good of the group as a whole. But Andrea obviously thinks that gay males are above that kind of conditioning and that their love of dick and ass sets them apart from regular guys who become submerged into the military mind set. Swallowing jizz and having anal sex will do that to you I reckon, which is why they wouldn't let women serve for so long.

What this woman's quote really says is that she has no idea about how things in the military work and that she has no idea about what gay males who want to serve in the military are like. When this whole struggle of allowing gays to serve openly in the military first surfaced years ago a woman who used to be my boss said to me that she didn't want gays in the military because she thought that soldiers didn't want guys winking at them in a foxhole during a battle, they wanted guys who would fight along side them. I asked her if she knew that Alexander the Great was gay, she said she did not. I then asked her if she knew what her idol Barry Goldwater, she was , and probably still is, a hardcore conservative Republican, said about letting gays serve in the military and she said she didn't. So I told her what he said about it before he died. He said it didn't matter if soldiers were gay or straight, but it did matter if they shot their weapons straight. She said I was lying. That was the last conversation I ever had with her.

For hardcore social conservatives it's heresy for them to admit that gay people are equal to straight people in any way. They will never ever admit that being gay is the same as being straight and that people are born gay or straight. To them homosexuality is a character defect that is to be either fixed, mocked, or ignored. And allowing gays to serve openly in the military or to get married not only scares them silly, it undermines their argument that being gay is bad and sinful. They'll forever keep ignoring the fact that it's straight people who commit the most sex crimes, are the biggest majority of pedophiles, and are the ones who we need to protect gay people from, not the other way around. And there are two things that prove those points every day, the Roman Catholic church and self loathing closeted politicians like the one in CA who voted against every gay right measure he ever saw but who loved him some hot man on man action.

The louder you proclaim how much you hate gays and how they should have no rights or equality under the law, what you're really telling the world is that you are a self loathing closeted homosexual who needs to come out. So my advice to you Andrea is for you to find a nice butch gal who looks dashing in a flannel shirt and tight jeans and you ladies have a go at it. It'll do you both some good and maybe it'll help stop the hate.

Teen girl detective Nancy Shrew in "The case of the blabbermouthed boy"

It was a nice spring day and I had just finished making a lovely Easter bouquet for my girlfriend Sally who was coming over to spend the night.
I had planned to use Sally's over night stay to take our relationship to the next level. I had planned to wine and dine Sally and tell her I loved her, so I set up everything I needed in the rumpus room in our basement:
Just as my excitement was building to a fever pitch the phone rang. It was Sally's mom. She called to say that she had heard around town that I was a lesbian. I lied and told her I wasn't and that it was perfectly okay for sweet sweet pretty Sally to spend the night at our house and that if she forgot her night gown it was okay because I had a sheer baby doll nightie she could wear. But Sally's mom said she heard it from an unimpeachable source that I was gay and that Sally was my object of desire, so she did what her kind usually did, she sent Sally to live with a Mormon family in Utah until such time as they could pray the gay out of me.

Well, let me tell you, I was devastated. I was determined to find out who blabbed about me to Sally's mom. So I put on my thinking cap and I went out looking for answers.
I didn't find any but when I hit that pine tree but I did shake enough leaves and pine pollen loose to get me good and stoned. I packed all that stuff in my dad's bong and I smoked the bejeebus out of it. While stoned I got the idea to ask Mr. Bug if he knew anything.
It took me quite some time to understand the particular insect dialect Mr. Bug was speaking but after a few more bong hits I finally decoded it. Mr. Bug told me that the person who had informed on me was my own brother! It turns out he had been spying on me and that he wanted Sally for his very own. So after a few more bong hits I went out to find the little rat bastard.
I found him near the old quarry. Even though it was 99 degrees with 115% humidity there he was dressed in his winter jacket and he had his hat with flaps on. He looked ridiculous. I asked him what he was doing. He told me he was writing Sally a letter telling her all about his love for her and how I was an evil lesbian. Well, that did it. I snapped and made us both change our clothes and as he was tying his shoes I tossed all his muscadine grapes on the ground. As he began picking them up, I cold cocked him with a stick.
It turns out I didn't know my own strength because my blow to his head killed him. So I lured an evangelist to the quarry and I framed him for the crime. Now I live in gay married commune in Iowa, the hotbed of the radical gay marriage agenda.

Bittersweet

As most of you regular readers know I'm hooked on Facebook as well as blogging. And for every old friend from college or high school that I've reconnected with there's been people from that part of my past that I'd rather just stay away from either because they've become intolerant Christians who look forward to going to the Creationist Museum or because I didn't like them back then and I still don't like them now. My friendship with some of my blog friends has deepened as a result of being on Facebook with them as well as reading their blogs.

Unfortunately, I've also ran into some sad and troubling news on Facebook as well. I recently friended a gal I went to high school with. I knew she would not remember me because I was a few years behind her. But I not only remembered her, I went to a very small high school, I was friends with her young brother Scott.

Scott was friends with my sister Sandy first. He and Sandy and another gal named Sheila were thick as thieves for a few years but when Sandy and Sheila graduated and went on to other things Scott was still in school with me, he was a year ahead of me. Since we both partied in high school we would often hang out together and get stoned and or drunk. Scott was a fun, funny, stand up guy. And he was gay.

In a small rural community like Lee County, VA if you were gay you had to keep it under wraps or you faced the wrath of people who hated gays and the wrath of the sanctimonious holier than thou Christians, and often they were one and the same. But for some reason this didn't apply to Scott. And I think it was because Scott was so beloved by everyone. We stoners liked him because he was one of us, the jocks liked him because he was not a threat to them, and the hicks liked him because he made them laugh. If you asked him he'd tell you he was gay but he didn't go around screaming about his sexual orientation. He wasn't a flamer, but you knew he was gay if you spent any length of time around him at all.

I liked Scott immensely because he was such a fun guy. He always was quick with a joke and to poke fun at the people and things that needed it. He reminded me of me in that regard. I also liked him because he was who he was and he didn't change for anybody. I always thought he was pretty brave to not change who he was in order to try and fit in. In a way he was a hero of mine because if a gay guy like him could be himself in that small town then I, a smart geeky bookish kid with a smart mouth, could be who he was and not worry about it. Sometimes I had to reign in who I was but Scott never did and for that I always admired him.

The day after I graduated high school I left moved out of Lee County and for the most part I never looked back. I had heard that Scott had died of HIV/AIDS but I never was sure about it, until his sister and I began emailing each other on Facebook that is. I shared with his sister that my brother Charlie, who she remembered very well by the way, had died from an HIV/AIDS related illness and so she told me that Scott had as well. But oddly enough he didn't get it from unprotected sex, he got it from a blood tranfusion. She told me that Scott was managing a restaurant in North Carolina and one night after he closed up the place he got carjacked. The carjacker slit his throat so he could not scream but the slit did not kill Scott. The carjacker tied him up and put him in the backseat of his car and then he took off. Despite having a slit throat Scott was able to undo the bonds that held him and he managed to run off when the carjacker stopped for a rest break. It was during his hospitalization that Scott was given AIDS tainted blood.

It's a sad turn of events that cost my friend Scott his life but I know that he lived that life braver than most anyone else I know. I wish I had kept in touch with him after I left high school and I wish I could have seen him before he passed so I could have told him he was one of my personal heroes. I missed the chance to do those things, so this will have to do, so long Scott, you were one hell of a guy and this world was better for you having been in it.

So sad

I feel so sad for Miss California. She's being attacked for who she is (just like gay people are), for what she believes (just like people who believe in marriage equality are), and now it looks like she might lose her crown because she cheated in order to win it (just like the Mormons and other religious groups did in order to defeat gay marriage in California). She knew the rules of the pageant stated that there were not supposed to be any nude or partially nude photos in her background and she lied to the pageant organizers when she said there weren't. The fact that they came out after she made her bigoted feelings about gay marriage known is immaterial because the fact remains, she lied in order to win, she cheated.

She's said over and over again that she's speaking out against gay marriage because she has to defend her god. My question is, why doesn't the god who she is defending make all this bad shit go away? Why doesn't the sky open and he come down and kick everyone's ass who is being mean to her? You'd think that her god would be so overjoyed that someone was sticking up for it that he'd smite all the gays and straights who are laughing and making fun of all the trouble she's in now. Maybe the poor deluded hatemongering fake tit having beauty queen thinks she's going to get her reward in heaven for all the "good" work she's doing down here now. Well, if that's the case, then I really do feel sad for her.

I'm California doctor too!

Some, notice I said some, Christians will stop at nothing to prevent all people from having marriage equality. I refuse to post the original ad these 'actors' are auditioning for but I sure as hell will post this because it debunks the original ad:

Liars, NOM is full of nothing but god damned bigoted liars. If you aren't for same sex marriage then don't marry someone who is the same sex as you. Remember people, the ones who oppose same sex marriage are the same kind of people who opposed interracial marriage, inter faith marriage, and giving full civil rights to blacks, gays, and women.

Not in his state you don't!

Meet Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa):
He claims now Iowa has equal marriage rights for all people that his state is going to become a Mecca for gays who want to get married. And he's dead set against that happening. He doesn't want any gays coming to his state during a recession and spending any of their filthy money on things like wedding cakes, wedding dresses, tuxedos, limos, hotel rooms, catering, etc, etc.. He doesn't want people to go to shops in Iowa and spend any money on wedding presents for their gay friends who choose to get married.

So Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) says a hale and hearty "Fuck you!" to people who own flower shops, hotels with banquet rooms, ministers who might make a buck off marrying people, caterers, party and event planners, and to anyone connected with weddings in Iowa. No, you can't make any money off those gays in his state. He'd rather you go spend your money in Massachusetts and Connecticut because the economy in Iowa is doing fine thanks, the merchants and shop owners across his fine state don't need any of your gay wedding business.

It would be sweet irony if there was a waiting list a mile long of gay couples who want to get married in his district. Let the exodus of gays who want to get married in Iowa begin!

Wow

Holy crap, who knew Iowa was such a hotbed of equality? Way to go Hawkeye state!

I remember Harvey

I remember hearing the stereotypical jokes about limp wristed swishy homosexuals as I was growing up.

I remember Cousin Psycho calling me "fag," "femmy," "queer," and "faggot" because I was different from him in that I didn't like killing small fur bearing animals and song birds and because I did not try to date rape every girl I went out with.

I remember a time in this country when you could get beaten up for being homosexual, and I'm sad to say that in some places, including the area I live in, this is still true.

I remember a time when it was professional suicide for homosexuals to come out of the closet.

I remember when Harvey Milk became the first out gay man to get elected to public office in this country. I was living in Jonesville, not exactly a hotbed of political tolerance but it turns out it was a hotbed of homosexual activity, especially among females, and I thought it was a good thing that a gay person was finally in a position of power, even if it was in a city that was across the country from me.

I remember when Dan White gunned down Harvey Milk and George Moscone and I remember thinking that it was such a shame that those two men had to die at the hands of such a bigoted asshole.

I remember Anita Bryant's anti homosexual crusade and how the "Christians" in Jonesville backed her publicly and loudly. I remember they said that the homos were going to recruit in the schools because they could not reproduce. I then expected to be recruited but it never happened. It didn't happen in college either. And I was kind of disappointed because I had my response all figured out if they did try to recruit me. I was going to give them the speech I got from girls in high school and college who did not want to date me, "Thanks, really. I'm flattered but I don't like you guys like that. I only like you guys as friends. We can be friends but that's it." Then I was going to give who ever tried to recruit me a chaste hug or a pat on shoulder.

I tell you all that because Sparky and I saw this last night:

And seeing it brought back a lot of memories about the gay rights movement and growing up in the mid and late '70's.

As you all know by now, this film tells the story of Harvey Milk's life in San Francisco when he became an activist and a city supervisor. The film shows parts of Milk's life journey as it mirrored the journey of the gay rights/equality for all movement.

It's a fine film and yes, Sean Penn deserved his Oscar for it. He turned in a fearless performance as he lost himself in this role. He's a big time movie actor, which is different from being a big time movie star. Bruce Willis is a movie star, Sean Penn is a movie actor and if you can't tell the difference then you are a Philistine and you need to stop reading my blog.

I highly recommend this film and even though it's sad, it's actually hopeful too. I think it would have tickled Harvey Milk pink, don't excuse the pun, to see his story get told to millions of people. And I'm pretty sure that Harvey would love what Sean Penn and Gus Van Sant did with his story. I hope closeted gay people see this and it gives them the courage to come out and live their lives honestly. I hope gay teens see it and it gives them hope for a better tomorrow. I hope straight people see it that they get a better understanding of what it is to be gay in this country. I hope everyone sees it and that they then join the fight for equality for gays, lesbians, and transgendered people. I hope this film is seen by the hundreds of thousands of intolerant Christians, Jews, and Muslims, and they they see that their fight against equal rights for gays is misguided and a crime against the gods they claim to love and serve.

I remember Harvey Milk and I hope you will too long after you see this powerful film.

Words of wisdom from Wanda

I've actually been trying to stop saying that phrase for some time now. I'll admit it's hard because in our hetero culture the use of that phrase is almost embedded in us from the womb. I know I'll feck up and use it again but I promise you my gay brothers and sisters, I'll do my best to try to stamp it out.

Really? You're kidding me right?

This can't possibly be true can it?

I thought those people believed in love and treating each other like they'd want to be treated. Huh, I guess they really didn't listen to what the guy who they claim got nailed to a tree said after all.

My lack of religion demands that I stand up to hate

Not only should liberals, progressives, and all people who love equality boycott the wretched home state of the Church of Latter Day Haters, the people who are otherwise known as the
we should also boycott the state of California until their legislature gives back the rights that the Mormons and Catholics (sorry FranYouAre) took away with Prop 8.

If I see that a product is made in California I won't buy it until this wrong against gay people is righted. I know all my California commenters are pro gay marriage and my boycott isn't meant to harm or take away business from you fine people, it's meant to hurt and take business away from the asses who don't want their fellow gay and lesbian citizens to be equal.

This latest out pouring of hate is nothing new for the Mormons. For many years they preached that Native Americans and African Americans were lesser beings than whites. They claimed that the people with dark skin were responsible for Jesus death and so it was okay to hate and marginalize them. They claim that they no longer feel that way but I think they are lying because many years ago the snake oil salesman who founded their "religion" said that Mormons could lie to anyone about their odious beliefs and practices as long as it made people accept them into the mainstream of American life.

You Mormons need to put on your sacred underwear and gird your loins because now that we have put a Democrat in the White House we're on the hunt for equality for our gay brothers and sisters. We're not about to let you hateful fucks who believe in a religion that's stranger than most (Think about this, if there was this great civilization that used chariots and smelted iron in America during the time when Jesus was supposed to be alive as the Mormon bible claims, then how come there have never been any artifacts of it unearthed? BECAUSE MORMONISM, LIKE ALL RELIGIONS, IS A MADE UP STORY.) get away with this bit of bullshittery. If you had had your way before you would have wiped out black and red folks long ago. You sanctimonious prigs disgust me and I relish the fight against you.

Those liberals and gays will kick your ass every time

The shooting spree that took place yesterday in Knoxville, which is about an hour and a half west of Monkey Central, showed just how much conservatives hate modern America. The ones who did not do the shooting, the hacks in the NRA and the corporate media, will all cry, "This is not the time to talk about gun control! We need more citizens armed so they can do things like this! After we kill teh gays we'll go after women who have had abortions and people who don't love the same Jesus that we do!" And now we know that the piece of shit who did the shooting hated liberals and gays more than life itself.

I guess the shooter bought into the media meme, pushed mostly by the cowards at the National Review Online, that us liberals and gays would just sit idly by while someone with a big gun shot us all down. He must have thought that those heroes in that church congregation were just going to cower and whimper while he sprayed hot conservative Republican lead in all directions.

Well Mr. Asshole Big Gun Totin' Shooter, I guess you found out different. I'm betting now that your ass is in jail you wish you hadn't listened to all those lies that said liberals and gays were weak and wouldn't defend themselves and their children. I'm willing to go so far as to say that when you get sent to prison for the rest of your life and Big Bubba and or Big Tyrone is anally raping you without the benefit of lubing you up first then boy howdy you'll be wishing you hadn't listened to all that hate filled right wing talk radio that said that burly conservative Republicans with guns could do just whatever they wanted.

Make no mistake people, the man who did this shooting is a conservative Republican or possibly a Libertarian and his motives were to wipe out as many liberals, gays, and gay friendly people as he could. He was no doubt hopped up on right wing hate radio and FOX news. So when they try and convict this piece of crap they ought to be trying Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdoch, and all the rest of the right wing hate mongers in the corporate media along with him.

Somehow I doubt the heroes of this shooting will be lionized and feted in the press. The press, with the possible exception of Keith Olbermann, will ignore the fact that the shooter was a product of right wing radio and FOX news and they'll ignore or gloss over the fact that the people who stopped him were liberal gay friendly people. And I'm willing to bet that some right wing religious nut job is going to say that the people in that church got what they deserved because they're liberal and gay loving.

Let this be a lesson to all you people out there who hate liberals, gays, and gay friendly people, if you fuck with us we will defend ourselves, even if you have a gun.

Wide Stance and Diaper Boy strike again.

I wonder if Mark Foley will lobby them when they try to get this bill passed.

It's a damn good thing there's not a war going on and that our national economy isn't tanking and that all the our government's regulatory agencies that are supposed to be protecting us citizens are fully staffed and fully funded, because if all that shit was going well then introducing a bill to amend the Constitution just to please some right wing religious hate filled puss bag bigots would be election year pandering that once again shows how hollow Republican "values" are.

Separate and unequal

This handsome dude is my Uncle Jerry. He was one of my mother's brothers and I lost touch with him after my siblings and I were sent to live with Aunt Rageaholic and Uncle Adultery after my mother's sudden death in 1972. Uncle Jerry was a "confirmed bachelor," which is what they called homosexual men back in those days.

I always liked Uncle Jerry. He was a nice guy and he took us places when we were little kids, like to the movies and to hockey games. It never occurred to me that my uncle was gay because he didn't act like the gay people I saw on TV and in movies at that time. I came to learn later that the "gay" characters on TV and film around that time were wildly offensive stereotypes and they bore no relation to the way gay men and women really acted. Jerry just seemed to be a nice hard working guy who was around at family functions and who took us kids out for fun outings, he didn't seem like he wanted to have sex with every man or boy he saw and he didn't run around acting like the limp wristed sissy character on Are You Being Served.

The last thing I heard about Uncle Jerry from my brother, who is not the most reliable or unbiased source in the world. He told me that Jerry was either dying from or had died of an AIDS related disease and that in his last years he was a bitter hateful angry man. If that was indeed true I can certainly see why Jerry would have been such a man towards the end of his life. He grew up in a time when gays and lesbians were more hated and feared than they are today. For most of his life there were no such things as gay bars where gay men and women could meet and socialize in peace without having to fear getting beat up or killed for being different than the rest of us. Also for most of his life my Uncle Jerry had to live with the fact that he could have been arrested and prosecuted for being true to who he was and loving men. If I had to hide who I was and society told me that I was a second class citizen who was subject to arrest for loving someone then I'd be bitter and angry too. I'd bear a lot of hate towards everyone who tried to marginalize me and to exclude me from having the same rights that heterosexual people have.

I can never make up for losing touch with my gay uncle and I can never tell him that I loved him. It's too bad that he didn't live to see the day when the largest state in our union finally recognized that not allowing two consenting adults to marry one another is wrong. I'm not sure if he would have gotten married if he had the chance but it would have been nice if he had had the option to and if he had the same rights and freedoms as others in this country have.

Let's hope that the rest of the states in our union follow the lead of California and Massachusetts and grant homosexuals the right to marry if they so choose. The same people who oppose gay marriage are the ones who opposed interracial marriage, inter faith marriages, civil rights for African Americans, and equal rights for women and they were just as wrong about those things as they are about gay marriage.

Way to go you crazy kids!

My blog friend Delia Guzman and her partner Kat got as hitched as they can get this weekend! Don't they make a beautiful couple?
Here's a news story about their big event. And you can click here to go see Delia's blog post about her and Kat's big day. Congrats to both you beautiful gals, maybe one day when we get Bush and the stone age christians out of office then you and Kat and any other gay and or lesbian couple can get legally married whenever you want.
