It's time for white people to tell us about racism in the USA

"I didn't see any racism.  It didn't happen to me, so it must not exist."

"How come we never talk about black racism?  Some of those people really hate us white people for what our ancestors did to them."

"Only racists keep wanting to talk about racism, so I want to change the subject to that new Star Wars trailer.  Can you believe they have a black Stormtrooper in it?"  

"I'm not racist, so there must be very little racism in the USA.  Also, if I ever tell a racist joke, I'm just joking, I don't actually believe that shit I'm saying.  And seriously, what's wrong with telling an off color joke every now and again?  People need to calm down and stop being so sensitive, especially those darkies when I tell a really funny joke about two knuckle dragging black welfare cheats and their ho's.

"There wouldn't be so much racism if Negroes just stayed on their side of the tracks."

"I'm too busy dealing with all the sexism to notice how racist our country is."

"Okay, look, slavery doesn't exist in the USA any more and a black dude is president.  That right there is proof that we're not racist anymore."

Conservative logic in a nutshell

If you're white and you protest what the government is doing, then you're a patriot. If you're black and you protest what the government is doing, then you're a loser and an animal.

If you're white and you can't see that the people in Ferguson, MO who are protesting have legitimate concerns and problems with the police and with the white capitalist economic system the cops are charged with protecting, then you're part of the problem.

Meanhile back in Orange county California...

...or Livingston county Michigan, or Edmonton Alberta, or anywhere else racism exists.

Ugh

The worst part of having a racist asshole make a racist 'joke' around me is the little chuckle they give at the end of their 'joke.' And then the look they steal at me to see if I'm laughing or agreeing with them.  Honestly, I just want to smash their smug racist faces in after hearing their bullshit comments, and I want to hit the ones with a baseball bat in the face who deny they are racists when you call them out on their racism.  There is no fucking way that the following statement isn't racist: "They ought to paint them footballs green so they look like watermelons and maybe then them black receivers would catch more passes."  And yes, the asshole who said it tried to maintain he wasn't a racist after I called him out on his racism.  I went from not liking the guy to actively despising him after this incident took place. 

We dodged a huge bullet

Thank goodness that racism and homophobia are confined to North Carolina.  Can you imagine how awful it would be if that shit was every where in the USA?  I'm so glad that places like California, Florida, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, and Alabama are havens of clear thinking people who accept and celebrate all those who are different from themselves.

Maybe we should give NC back to the Native Americans.  Yeah. that would serve all the racists and gay haters right!

The Talk (a white guy to black folks edition)

I'm a nearly 50 year old white guy who's lived in the north and the south and here's what I can tell African Americans about us white folks:

• Don't trust us white people, especially white men, especially white men  who claim they speak for a god.  We lie all the time and we'll do just about anything to get what we want.  One look at history will tell you that. 

• If you have something we want, we'll find a way to steal it.  We stole the land from the Native Americans and then we stole your ancestors from Africa to work it for us, and we did all that so we could have time to enact laws and shape religions that allowed us to steal more stuff from you.

• We'll do anything to stay on top.  Literally.  We'll start wars so we can ship off soldiers of color so they won't be a problem here at home, we'll convince poor and working poor white folks that you're to blame and not the crooked system we set up to keep you down.  We'll flood your neighborhoods with liquor stores and cheap drugs so you'll stay sedated and leave us alone.  We'll invest heavily in sports and music and allow a few of your people to achieve in those areas so that millions of other black folks will dream that they can succeed there too, which of course they won't.

• Your lives mean nothing to us but we want you to keep making babies so we can have someone to do our dirty work, someone to fight our wars, and someone to entertain us from time to time.

• If we have to pit you against other minorities in order to keep you down, we will.  

• We control the legal system, the major religions, and the media.  And we'll use all three if need be to keep you in line. 

• Even though we go to great lengths to keep you down, many of us either want to be like you or to have sex with you.

• If you want things to change and to make the USA, or wherever you live, because seriously, racism is every where, then you have to stop obeying.  

•  Stop believing the lies the corporate media tells you, especially the ones that says if you work hard enough, you'll become rich.  

• Start grabbing every government benefit you can, because honestly, that's how rich white people got so rich, Ross Perot, Mitt Romney, Bill Gates, and Wall Street fat cats, they all took advantage of government contracts, tax laws, and loopholes to make their money.  You're not going to get wealthy off businesses that make things for or cater to people who have little or no money, the real money is in the government, especially the Defense department. 

And so it goes...

"Hello, 911?  I think the negro outside my house is going to kill me and my family.  He's got some sort of cutting device that is capable of severing heads.  I'm going to stop him before he murders us in cold blood."

"Sir, do not engage the negro, you might get hurt."

"Fuck that, I'm going after that coon ass."

BANG! BANG!

"Hello 911? That negro came after me with what turned out were pruning shears.  I had to shoot him.  He might be dead but the important thing is my white family and I are safe.  Here, talk to my lawyer..."

"It's true.  My client shot the black boy in self defense, you know how these things go sir.  Lawn guys kill so many of their clients, especially the white ones who wear ascots."

"Sounds good to me.  Case closed."

Negroes amongst the Presbos

Actually, for 1957, the Presbyterians were among the most progressive of the main line Protestant cults. But it's still sad to see that black folks got two out of 130 pages and no white folks were in any pictures with any black folks.

Arizona finds another way to get rid of those icky brown skinned people

"...the whole system is out of order!"

In the wake of the relatively light sentence given to the BART cop who murdered Oscar Grant many people are speaking out and predictably opinions are all over the place. You can probably tell how I feel about it just by re-reading the previous sentence.

The important things to remember in this case and in all cases like this are :

• If you think that racism is dead in this country because we have a African American President then you're fooling yourself. And if you think that the aforementioned racism that many police officers are infected with vanished when Obama become President then you're also sadly mistaken.
• The police are not out there to make sure all people get justice, or even to 'serve' and 'protect.' The police are there to enforce the law. And most every law was written by, and for rich white people.
  
• There is a separate and unequal criminal justice system in this country. If you are rich and white you face an entirely different system than you do if you're black or Hispanic. Even if you're a working class or poor white person you have a better chance of getting treated better by the cops when under arrest. If you have dark skin then police everywhere will give you a harder time than they do white people.
  

I understand that we need police and many police officers do a fine and upstanding job each and every minute they are on duty, but when cases like this happen it's sad to see cops and others close ranks and defend the murder of people like Oscar Grant. I understand that in the line of duty sometimes police officers must kill, but murder is murder, no matter who does it. And those who murder should face the same punishment no matter what their profession or skin color.

Police brutality exists. Racism among the police exists. And the verdict in the Oscar Grant case proves yet again that police officers who murder in the line of duty are held to a different judicial standard than others who commit murder.

Arizona keeps the hate on for brown skinned people

Now one politician out in Arizona wants to deprive undocumented Hispanics of electricity.

Here's your new state motto Arizona, "Arizona, more racist than anybody! And god damn it, we'll prove it!"

More proof that all of us in the south are racists

The chairman of the NC GOP, a white man, has called upon Michael Steele to resign as chairman of the RNC. Obviously this is more proof of Oliver Willis's theory that all us southerners are racists who hate all black people.

Oliver also insists that all liberals hate the military.

It must be lonely occupying the moral high ground in the center all the time Oliver.

Who ever thinks the only place in America that is racist is the south...

...has never been to Philadelphia. Or to the midwest, or to the mountain west, or to the pacific northwest, or California.
