Dude, if you're out of work and need a can or two of food I'll be happy to help you out and I'm betting a bunch of my readers will send you some food as well. I've been watching the Republican convention in small doses. I have to keep it in small doses because if I watch too much then their lying lies will make my blood pressure rise too much and I might have another heart attack.

I missed the entire first night because I could not find my "American hat." I asked Sparky where our "American hats" were and she said that they were still in a container ship that was docked in a port in LA. It seems that there weren't enough inspectors to check that ship for terrorists because they had to lay off all the inspectors so we could keep funding the occupation of Iraq. So our made in China "American hats" are a continent away.

I missed the entire second night because of I'm sick of seeing old white guys blabber on and on. The reason I'm sick of seeing old white dudes blabber on is because I spend too much time in front of a mirror practicing my elocution lessons. In my defense though, I'm trying to learn how to talk without a Southern accent so that if I ever move back to the Midwest I'll sound normal to those people up there. (I'm just kidding, I'd never move back to the Midwest, it's too damn cold there.)

So that leaves last night and I'll admit I tuned into to try to catch Gov. Caribou Barbie (Thanks Bubs!). In the lead up to her speech I saw Gov. Gomer Huckabee speak a bit.And he was cracking "joke" after "joke." He also said he was sick of hearing the Democrats saying that Gov. Barbie had no experience and I thought to myself, "Well, that's because they're right. She has no experience to be Vice President, much less be the President." Then he nattered on about how she had "executive experience," which I'm guessing she got from being Governor of the least populous state in the union. As he touted her "executive experience" to a hall full of enraptured, though not yet raptured, white people, my mind floated back to the last person who was President who had a whole lot of "executive experience:"That didn't work out too good for us as a nation. He had plenty of "executive experience" and he stuck us with a ballooning deficit, a quagmire in Iraq, the hatred of our allies, he ruled by division and by fearmongering, he spied on us, and he squandered the biggest federal surplus in recent history. Oh yeah, he also made our lives less safe so that he could kill Saddam Hussein and take Iraq's oil. Ummm, Gov. Gomer, please tell your Republican brethren that this nation can't stand any more of your party's "executive experience." It was a disaster the first time and it looks like Gov. Palin has even less "executive experience" than Bush Jr. did at the time he was appointed President by the Supreme Court in 2000.

Tomorrow night they'll nominate the oldest man ever to be nominated by a major party in this country's history:And his choice to be his second in command is a woman so clearly unfit and un-American that she is a virtual laughingstock everywhere but the hall where they're having the RNC. His cynical pandering choice of a Vice President shows just how old and out of touch he is.

But don't get me wrong, I don't hold a grudge against all older people. There are plenty I admire and look up to. I love Teddy Kennedy, Sparky's mom and dad, and this gal:

Bush McCain has made his pick. It's, as I'm sure you all know by now, Sarah Palin. She's the scandal plagued Gov. of Alaska who denies that man is causing the current climate crisis and has never visited our troops in Iraq. She's a tool of big oil who wants to drill in ANWAR and she hates Hillary. The right wing corporate media loves her and she's got the full support of indicted Senator Ted Stevens who has worked closely with her for over a decade.

The only thing that would make all of this any better is if Dick Cheney says that she has his full endorsement.

I'll be interested to see what the Republican clergy have to say about this choice. I wonder if Dobson, Warren, and Robertson will tell her that she has to defer to the man on the ticket because it says women must defer to men in their bible.

It's an interesting pick to be sure but it's not quite the historic pick they are making it out to be. For one thing Walter Mondale, a Democrat, was the first nominee of a major party to pick a woman as his veep.

By picking Palin he's undercut any and all experience issues he has tried to make, Palin is a governor of a state with a tiny population and she has no experience on the national stage. Sen. Obama has been a US Senator for four years and he was elected in a state that has a huge population, and he has ties to Hawaii and Kansas. The choice of Biden showed that Obama has the wisdom to pick a man who has impeccable foreign policy credentials, heck even Bush consulted with him after 9/11 and if Bush had listened to his warning about terrorists using planes as weapons before 9/11 then we probably could have avoided the whole thing. On the other hand no one has consulted with Sarah Palin on any national security issue. And it's pretty telling that Ms. Palin praised Obama's energy policy on her website.

And finally, when they stand side by side Obama and Biden look Presidential, they look like leaders. Bush McCain just looks like a dirty old man next to his much younger veep choice. I hope she and Cindy Bush McCain will get along and maybe in a lull in the campaign they'll exchange recipes or swap stories about how they both did drugs.

Night three

My quick impressions:

• With Bill's speech the Clintons go to for two. I kind of wish they'd let Chelsea or Roger Clinton speak so they'd carry on the family tradition.
• Why the hell didn't John Kerry come out swinging in 2004 like he did tonight?
• Biden's speech was good but not great. I'm not worried though, he's a seasoned campaigner with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. Plus his son is going to Iraq and if that kid comes back in one piece, then we may have the makings of a progressive dynasty on our hands.
• Beau Biden's speech introducing his dad was pure genius.
• Tammy Duckworth and Rep. Patrick Murphy gave great speeches. I wonder how many vets they'll find to stand up at the republican convention and say that they want their fellow soldiers to serve 100 years in Iraq or who want to bomb bomb bomb Iran.
• The Speilberg film-eh. It was okay. I'm very tired of Speilberg in general. I wish they'd have let Spike Lee do that movie instead.
• The surprise appearance by Obama was inspired and it had to be done. It's his convention after all and if he had only bothered to show up at that football stadium then he would have looked snobbish and elitist. I hope they bring both families onstage tomorrow night after he accepts the nomination.
• It sucks that they don't do the roll call of states during prime time anymore, it's one of the things I loved so much about watching conventions when I was a kid.
• We come a long long way as a nation. Fifty years ago Sen. Obama would have been lynched in parts of this country for kissing Jill Biden that way he did tonight. I cold just hear Dobson, Roberston, and all the rest of those hateful christian ministers screaming that he is going to burn in hell for kissing a white woman like that.

And finally here's my last word on the hardcore Clinton-ista's who say they'll never vote for Sen. Obama, you people need to suck it up, get over it, stop your whining, and vote for the Democratic ticket. If you don't then you're like the black people who opposed integration and civil rights, the Jews who were Kapos in the concentration camps, and the gays who support the Republican party. You had your moment in the sun and now it's time to vote for the ticket who is going to protect your reproductive rights, your human rights, and your civil rights. Your gal put up on hell of a fight but it's over now, it's time to you stop fighting it and time to join us in the fight against a third Bush term.

The correct choice

Here's why Obama's choice of Joe Biden was the right one, even though he was not my personal choice:

• My choice was Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas. But if he had picked her then the Republican hate machine would have spewed out the "Holy shit, that damn dirty negro is defiling that white woman!" line of bullshit for the next few months.
• If he had picked someone to the left of himself then they would have kept harping on the "He's a socialist!" angle.
• If he had picked a black woman or black man it would have been political suicide. We are ready for one African American on the national ticket, not two.
• If he had picked Hillary then he would have had to deal with Hillary and Bill's baggage.
• The choice of Biden, a corporate Democrat who's an insider, sends a message to Wall Street and corporate America that things under an Obama presidency are going to be like they were under Bill Clinton's. And while I despise most everything about Wall Street, corporate America, and big business, a signal like this needed to be sent to calm fears about his "socialism."
• Biden also covers Obama's perceived "weakness" in foreign policy and defense.
• Biden's "advanced" age balances Obama's "youthfulness."
• Biden is the man who kept the most dangerous Republican Supreme Court nominee, Robert Bork, off the Supreme Court. That one fact alone should earn him the gratitude of all progressives everywhere.

As for all the bitching, pissing, and moaning from the various camps within the Democratic party about how bad a choice this is, I would like to remind you all that in the end this is a race that Obama wants to win, it's not some noble exercise in civics and race relations. Sen. Obama was not my first choice, but he turned out to be the best choice, just as Biden was not my first choice to be his veep but he has turned out to be his best choice.

So now it's time to head to the convention and to make history and then take back the White House. And it's time for all true Democrats to get in line and work to get our candidates elected. It's time to stop whining, to grow up and smell the coffee, and to get the Obama/Biden ticket elected in November. But if you're one of those bitter people who are clinging to the wreckage of the Hillary campaign and who plan on voting for McCain just so you can show us all a thing or two about a thing or two, then to you I say, take your Bush McCain vote and your PUMA merchandise and shove them up your you know where.

He and his brother Quinn are out in the Denver area with their parents for a few days, they're taking in an outsider art exhibition that focuses on art about Obama and his impact on America.

McCain's Veep Choice Revealed!

I am pleased as punch to bring you all a world exclusive! Unimpeachable sources tell me that Bush McCain has made his choice for Vice President. My sources tell me that the Bush McCain campaign looked long and hard until they found a candidate who made their Presidential nominee look young and virile by comparison, so Sen. McCain and his team have chosen:

Note to the corporate media

The conflict in Georgia does not help Bush McCain. It in fact hurts him because it highlights the failure of conservative Republican foreign and military policy. If we were not stretched so thin by the illegal and immoral war for oil in Iraq then we'd have troops to send to Georgia if necessary.
Oh, and one more thing, he hurts his campaign immensely when he claims that the hostilities in Georgia are the first conflict of the 21st century. It shows, yet again, how out of touch he is. Perhaps you folks in the corporate media who love shim so much could show him how to use the internets to keep up on things.

Or you could quit parroting his talking points and just give us the news with out trying to get your man elected.

Or even better, you could all do serious stories about the problems America is facing and then do some stories on folks who are trying to tackle those problems.

But what you'll do is continue to focus on what a "maverick" Bush McCain is, how John Edwards infidelity hurts Obama, and of course you'll also continue to ignore the recent cases of domestic terrorism such as the church shootings in Knoxville and the cold blooded murder of the chair of the Arkansas Democratic party.

It's no wonder people turn to the web and to blogs to get the real story of what's going on in the world.

Party of hope, party of fear

I've noticed the Obama and McCain commercials during the Olympics and the biggest difference between them, besides the lies in the McCain ads, is that it's obvious that the Republicans are attacking Obama to try to keep people as scared as Bush/Cheney did.

Bush McCain's ads start from a fearful place, fear of an educated black man, fear of "the other." They want to keep the sheeple cowed and frightened of trying something new because by golly it's scary and we should just stay with what we've got. They use the old canards that Obama is going to raise taxes and cut jobs, as if he could do either since Congress controls the purse strings of the nation and the only jobs Obama can cut are those of his cabinet.

Obama's ads, thus far anyway, have focused not on the fear of what Bush McCain will do but on what all of us can achieve together, things like tackling the climate crisis and job creation in the alternative energy fields. It's refreshing to see my candidate remind us that we can be a better country if we all work together.

And since they seem to be grasping at straws as their man gasps his way in this election, it's refresing to see the Bush McCain campaign stick with the same kind of campaign that lost them so many Republican seats in 2006.

What is this guy smokin'?

Which brilliant campaign advisor told Bush McCain to go speak in front of thousands of smelly wife beatin' doped up motorcyclists at Sturgis? Do they not know that these people are hardcore assholes who don't bother to vote because they are too busy cookin' up meth in their backyards while their kids shake down the rich kids for some lunch money? And what genius told him to say that he wanted his wife to enter their "beauty pagent" where the contestants parade around topless and bottomless as well? I'm praying that James Dobson and Pat Roberston were watching that spectacle.

Between the air gauges and him trying to whore out his wife for the masturbatory pleasures of some hairy stinky Jack Daniels addled bikers it seems that McCain can't shove his campaign off the rails enough.

Please tiny baby Jeebus, please, pretty please let them keep doing this type of shit.

Divorced from reality

Is it any wonder that Bush McCain's people have jumped all over the Obama campaign for daring to suggest that keeping your car tuned up and tires properly inflated is a good way to save gas? It's important to remember that the people who are waving tire gauges around and saying that Obama is full of hot air are the same people that want us to keep burning gas and oil at record levels which will keep us captive to foreign oil.

They are also the ones who said that it would be a good idea to cut rich people's taxes during a war we started so we could control the world's oil supply.

And they also are the ones who said we need to let the free market decide things but who are the first in line to have their hands out for some corporate welfare.

They also said that we can't have universal health care because it will be too expensive. And yet we found plenty of money to keep an illegal immoral war going day after day after day.

Speaking as one who was in the tire and automotive aftermarket business for many years, it is indeed true that you will save gas if your tires are properly inflated and if your car is tuned up and no amount of political theatre and Karl Rovian stunts can detract from that truth. Unless you live inside the bubble of Washington DC where people are regularly divorced from reality.
