Who ever thinks the only place in America that is racist is the south...
...has never been to Philadelphia. Or to the midwest, or to the mountain west, or to the pacific northwest, or California.

It was here in sunny CA where that mayor got fired for sending out a flyer that sported a cartoon of the whitehouse lawn littered with watermelons. And he didn't think it was racist.
The red part of CA can rival any southern state for racism and bigotry. Before the election, I travelled to Fullerton, just 45 mins. away. The first thing that greeted me getting off the freeway was a sea of "Yes on PRop8" signs... must have been hundreds.
I heard more rcist shit when I lived in the san Francisco bay Area then I have since moving to Atlanta, GA. Also, for a brief time I lived in Orange County, CA and let me tell you, the place was lousy with skinheads. Every other lightpost had a "death to race-mixers" sticker pasted on it.
Nope, I get a bad case of the "get the fuck out of here" glare as soon as I get out of the San Francisco Bay Area and even in a certain county in the East Bay. Ignorance often abounds as much as goodness, that's just human nature.

Wherever there are human beings there is racism

It is everywhere.

"Everyone's a little bit racist sometimes,
doesn't mean we go around committing hate criiiiimes!"
Avenue Q, so true.
all i can say is wow. and folks wonder why black folks don't learn how to swim! no one will let us in!
Like their precious little lily whites don't pee in the pool like everyone else!
A million dollars says they drained and disinfected the pool.
Yup, racism is everywhere.
That is terrible! I thought Philadelphia was very diverse and maybe just a little bit more tolerant. I guess not.
Those people who kicked those poor kids out of the pool should be ashamed.
I live in Cincinnati, home of the 2001 race riots, largest since good ol' LA in '92. Unfortunately, utterly ubiquitous.
