In case you missed her, or Julia, is that a Klute in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

Jane's been out there beating the publicity bush lately for her new movie a lot lately, but more importantly she's also been speaking out against the war. And as you can see from the photos we shamelessly stole, La Fonda is "still gettin' it done."
Oh Jane, we've loved you since the day we first saw you in Cat Ballou on the Million Dollar Movie when we lived in the Detroit Zoo.

We're willing to forgive those marriages to Tom Hayden and Ted Turner if you bring us a banana and groom us later.

Deal?

It's OK, you can get back to us.

Sigh.

Our trip to K Mart or How to incorporate political action in most every facet of your life

This afternoon we hopped into the Monkey Moblie, a 1996 Nissan Pick Up truck, and headed over to K Mart. We usually do not shop at such huge corporate stores but we also had to get fish food at Pet Smart so we decied to dash into the K.
As we were paying for our purchases, a 12 pack of Mountain Dew (it keeps us monkeys here at Monkey Muck HQ wide awake and sugary sweet) and a jar of pasta sauce, the cashier asked us if we would like to donate a dollar to the March of Dimes Walk America fund thingy. We said, "Sure," and forked over a dollar. She slid us a shoe to sign, you know what we mean, those paper shoes for walking events, or like the paper shamrocks for Jerry's kids, or the paper lower intestines for National Colon Day. Anyway, we decided to sign it as Dennis Kucinich and began to do so when it hit us to sign it this way instead, Vote for Dennis Kucinich in 2008. We did so and passed it back to the cashier. We felt like we struck a blow for freedom.
Out in the parking lot an older couple was walking to their car and the husband saw me getting into the Monkey Mobile. He said to me, "Hey young man," as I get older I appreciate being called young man more and more and it beats what they usually say when they want my attention which is, "Hey you fat bastard!" I said to the old dude, "Yes?" He smiled and said, "I like your sign." He meant the bumpersticker on my back window that says IMPEACH BUSH CHENEY. "Thanks," I replied. He went on as his wife walked to their car, "Impeachment is too good for them. We ought to put them on a plane to Iraq." We both laughed. I said, "I'd settle for seeing them both locked in cages in Gitmo." He nodded and said as he walked away, "Well me too then. You have a good day young man."
I am having a good day, thanks in part to him.

Our Second Choice for President, or we loves us some island music

The reporter in this video looks disturbingly like one of our old political science professors.

Tip O' The Fez To Ya

Cheers to our friends over at The Largest Minority for this:

Scroll down after you follow the link and you'll see what we're talking about.

Oh, and by the way, even though the Kucinich event we attended that Sunday was free, we did donate. We're monkeys after all, not Scotsmen.

Manila Ryce rocks.

Things you can do every damn day to piss off King George

Being impeachment Saturday and all we here at Monkey Muck HQ got to thinking about how cool would it be to do something everyday to piss off the jackals in power. We put our thinking caps on our little simian heads and we came up with the following list.

  1. Buy gas only at Citgo. The crude oil they make the gas from at your local Citgo station comes from Venezuela. And you know who is President of Venezuela. Plus, if you buy gas at Citgo, then the profits on that gas do not go to bush jr and his oily oil buddies.
  2. Eat organic or at the very least eat food grown without any pesticides, unnatural fertilizers, or chemicals. Monsanto, a horrid company that backs the Republican party, makes it's living by making horrible chemicals that are put on or in your food. If you eat organic then you are not helping Monsanto ruin our planet or make money.
  3. Recycle
  4. Do your part to help stem the tide of climate change. Use fluorescent light bulbs instead of incandescent, drive less, have your car or truck tuned up so as to maximize your usage of fuel.
  5. Get out and connect with one another and network for change.
  6. Write your congress people and tell them how you want them to vote, they work for you after all, not that other way around.
  7. Get off your dead asses and go vote when it's election time and encourage others to do the same.
  8. Stop shopping at big corporate stores like Wal Mart and Target. They all contribute to Republicans and big corporate assholes like Wal Mart and Target do not have your or your communities best interests at heart, they want only one thing, your money.
  9. Shop at locally owned businesses.
  10. Boycott businesses that advertise on FOX Comedy Channel.
  11. Write blogs and or support blogs and websites that oppose the greedy war mongering asses in DC.
  12. Volunteer in your community.
  13. Protest when and where you are able.
  14. Be truly patriotic and oppose any attempts to curtail our civil liberties.

The only man named Bill on TV you should trust

Mr. Moyers, on behalf of all of the people who watched your brilliant documentary on the lack of journalistic oversight of the current administration during the run up to war PBS last night, thank you. Please don't ever go away again.
I mean it.
