Still here

Here we are with another World AIDS Day on our hands. HIV/AIDS is still with us. We're still battling it and we're still battling the Christian and Muslim idiots who don't want people to use condoms. We're still battling the prejudice that surrounds HIV/AIDS and we're still living with the idea that HIV/AIDS is a gay disease and or that it was brought on by gays.
We're still pouring money into stupid useless wars, church coffers, and corporate bank accounts rather than using all that money to find a cure for this horrible disease that took my brother and my friend Scott.

I fucking hate it that we've got our priorities out of whack so much that we're pissing money away on stupid shit like war and making the Pope even richer instead of using it to cure HIV/AIDS. I also hate it that we haven't been able to label this day Victory Over HIV/AIDS Day yet.

Unfortunately it's World AIDS day again

I hope to live long enough to see this day renamed 'Victory over AIDS Day.' If you click here you can read my post from last year about HIV/AIDS.

All right you slackers...

...don't let one little shopping related death at Wal Mart stop you from doing your patriotic duty, get out there and shop or the baby Jesus will smite you! We can't win the war on Christmas unless we buy more and more shit made in China, now go!

Out of Africa

Does the rioting in the wake of the "elections" in Kenya surprise anybody?
If you lived in abject poverty that was brought on by your government's greed and by the rape of your country's natural resources by western multi-national corporations and when you went to vote your vote was ignored or tossed aside, then I'm betting you'd riot too. If you saw that the only way out of a miserable existence was to attach yourself to whatever dictatorial strong man was in power then I guess you'd take up a machete and try to hack off the heads of the people who wanted him out. If you skimmed food and cash off all the charity that flows into your country and you got fat and rich off it then I'm sure you'd do whatever it took to keep that flow going.
For years western countries like the US and Britain have forced alien political systems on African nations. They've told them, "You must be a democracy like we are!" Of course it doesn't matter to the US or to Britain that for hundreds of thousands of years Africans got along fine without democracy. The US, Britain, and other countries have insisted that multi-national corporations be allowed to plunder Africa's resources and to make low paid wage slaves out of their citizens. We've also shoved our twisted brand of Christianity down their throats for hundreds of years and we've done our best to obliterate their tribal past.
********
I can't help but see that the past 40 years of trying to remake Africa into the USA and Britain has been a disaster for most every African and for Africa in general. Of course there have been some who have profited and have done well from our plunder of the dark continent, and as usual it's been the corporate CEO's and their henchmen in our governments.
********
Maybe if we got the hell out of Africa and we stop forcing our political and economic systems down their throats, then Africans might just work things out for themselves. After all, the one country that has rejected the IMF and the World Bank, Botswana, is one of the most peaceful and economically sound countries in Africa. They do things in Botswana the way they think best and not the way the technocrats in Washington and London think they ought to. Most every other country in Africa has adopted western style economics and aped western style political systems to their detriment. If we got the politicians, the missionaries, the corporations, and the zealots out of Africa then life would be better for millions of Africans once again.

C V Day

It's here boys and girls, the day you've all dreamed about has finally arrived. That's right Christmas Victory Day is finally at hand! Billo said the war he's fought has finally been won, so it must be true, after all Billo said it!
As you can expect there was much jubilation in the streets.

But oddly enough there was a bit of introspection as well. It seems that this hard fought war on Christmas left some of us in a pensive, almost brooding mood. Let's find out what real people have to say about the victory in the war on Christmas.

Gal in a Roy Lichtenstein print says: "It all happened so fast, it seems the only people who profited off the war were FOX News anchors who wrote books about it. Christmas is for everyone, why couldn't we all have made a little coin off the war on it?"

Lonely Pig Farmer guys says: "Corporate farms are killing this country and people like me. Let's start a war on them, how about that?"

1960's Finland says: "Brr, it's feckin' cold up here sandwiched between Sweden and Communist Russia. How about you let us switch places with Spain for a few months? Please? Pretty please?"
Kate Winslett says: "This picture of me looks too much like that Roy Lichtenstein print. I shouldn't be in this post."
Stogie Chomping Top Hat Guy says: "Let's fight a real war next time. I say we fight the war on stupid blowhard pundits and FOX News anchors. And CNN anchors too! And don't even get me started on the weasel Glen Beck or that twat Nancy Grace."
Women on a break from work say: "Go away. We're resting. We don't make enough to buy Christmas presents anyway, so leave us alone. Unless you're going to give us all a good "seeing to" that is. If that's the case, then you can stay. Otherwise, piss off."

Cletus and Billy Joe Bob Baker-Weinstein say: "We won the war on Christmas? No shit? Can we start the war on Kwanzaa now?"
********
Thank you Billo for winning the war on Christmas for us all! Happy C V Day everybody!
