...don't let one little shopping related death at Wal Mart stop you from doing your patriotic duty, get out there and shop or the baby Jesus will smite you! We can't win the war on Christmas unless we buy more and more shit made in China, now go!
That poor person who was killed by greedy shoppers trying to spend their money on cheap crap at a criminally greedy store will sadly be remembered as yet another faceless victim of rampant consumerism.
I give pictures and letters at Christmas. And some of my crappy baking.
This is why I stay away from all malls on those traditional "shopping days". I am not a person who buys nothing, but I try to do with what I have for as long as possible. I shop for used stuff on eBay, Craig's List and at consignment stores where it makes sense. And I NEVER go to Wal-Mart.
During my most recent college course in accounting we studied Wal-Mart and I was PROUD to tell my classmates I won't shop there. We saw this documentary where it showed how they put the squeeze on US suppliers first and when they ran them out of business they started on the Chinese and the rest of Asia. Hello Melamine...Wal-mart is the reason for all the bad things that suppliers do to get more out of their wares.
Peace to that poor soul crushed from commercialism.
Most excellent post about the perils of consumerism run amok, Dr. Monkey. And may I take this opportunity to thank you for the marvelous swag you sent my way for Thanksgiving??
A fine post, Dr. Reminds of our dear soon to be out of the White House (and into the Big House?) President. After 9/11, he told everyone to eat a steak. I guess doing so would make some great improvement to life on Earth.
i've heard a lot about this unfortunate, tragic, ridiculous event. it is sad and outrageous. that is, i'm outraged. outraged that we/i have participated in this economy without calling ourselves to something higher/different. buy nothing day. haha! how about buy nothing months? buy nothing years? share. live generously. and i'm as much to blame as everyone...tragic and outrageous...

I am so sickened by the fact that someone was trampled for, what, a sweater? Nobody, not one person stopped to help. The God damned shame of it.
You know what people are getting from me this year? A hug and a kiss. If it ain't enough fah'ya, too bad.
Love the pic, babe.

Indeed, consumerism gone murderous should be a MAJOR wake up call.
Sadly, there are now too many materialistic morons.
*sigh*
