We have a winner!

Well, two winners in our latest contest to be exact.   No one correctly identified that above picture was taken outside the public library here in Johnson City so no one wins a postcard for guessing the location.

But there were a bunch of great entries in the 'most creative' guess and I decided to pick two entries as the winners.  Congratulations go out to Coaster Punchman and to Ricky Shambles for their humorous entries.  Guys, please send your snail mail addresses to monkeymuckATgmailDOTcom and I'll send out your vintage postcard with a Zen like proverb on it ASAP.

Thanks for playing everyone and don't be sad if you didn't win, there'll be other chances to win coming up soon!

Let's have a contest!

I'll award a vintage postcard with a zen-esque proverb on it to the first person who correctly guesses where I took this photo and I'll also send vintage postcard to the person who gives the most creative answer.
Entries will be taken for as long as I decide, so enter this contest quick!

She's #1!

There was only one winner this week in the ongoing Win a Vintage Postcard From Dr. Monkey Sweepstakes and that winner was the lovely Jane Austen Jr.! Jane Jr. is my blog mate on the Spring Reading Challenge, Quotable Quotes, and she also writes her own blog called Chapter 3: In Which She Blogged.
Jane hails from Nova Scotia, which for the geographically challenged of you is in eastern Canada. Congratulations Jane, all of us here at Monkey Central hope you enjoy your postcard and we also hope we can count on you giving us sanctuary if we ever have to flee the USA for political reasons.

Hey my fellow US citizens, are you tired of seeing cute Canadian women win this contest week after week? Well, then you better get off your asses and send in some quality entries if you expect to ever win. For a complete list of rules and past winners of this contest click here.

Big Weiners

I'm ending the "Get a Postcard From Dr. Monkey" contest early because it's my contest and not yours, so there, nah nah nah. The winners are:

  • Long time commenter and first time reader Austin J. of Johnson City wins a postcard because he read the rules and he sent me an email. His reason was flimsy but since he followed the rules and since he lives here in my city I decided to make him a winner.
  • Whiskey Marie wins a postcard because she promised to act out the theme of the card that she gets and that means pictures! Pictures of her doing crazy funny stuff! Oh how I look forward to see those photos.
  • A guy in Nebraska with the same name as me wins a postcard because I love screwing with people. Techincally Quaker Vixen Suzy won this card but she and her husband tell me they are trying to pare down their possessions so I decided to send her card out to a guy with my name. I picked Nebraska because people there need some excitement from time to time and what could be more exciting than getting a post card from some one you don't know.

Thanks to the two of you who entered correctly and to the rest of you for playing along. Look for more contests some time. Maybe.

"To bad your pony died."

Kenneth's reply:
"Thanks for reminding me of the death of my pony you old piece of shit. I hope you die while on vacation Grandpa. Oh yeah dumb ass, it's "Hear you got home O. K." not "Here you got home O.K.."

People in Omaha were really lucky once

I bought 20 old postcards for $2 today at an antique store. Most of them sent were to people in Iowa. I'll be posting more later here and on Monkey Scan and I'll probably put the whole set of them on Flickr later. When that happens it will truly be, as Ken says in his postcard to the Kurses, "Finally really fine day."
