Just plain dumb

If you keep leaving comments that never see the light of day, then that should be a sign that you're not welcome to leave comments on this blog. You'd think that lesson would sink in, but you'd be wrong.

Trolling for right wing Jesus

I had a right wing Christian troll for a day or two this week. He took offense that I didn't believe in his fairy tale religion and that I didn't subscribe to the 'fuck the poor' economic model they love so much. He lectured me about 'liberal economics' and how atheists are selfish and how only Christians are good.

His main tactic was to tell me to stop my ranting and look at the facts. Then when I showed him facts to back up my points, he said those weren't the real facts. Apparently, only right wing supply side Jesus worshipers own the facts.

I had to ban him because he was in violation of my comment policy. His main violation was leaving too many comments on one post. His next violation was he was arguing with other commenters. And his third violation was his proselytizing. Disagreement with me is fine, just don't be a dick about it, don't try to convert me, don't be a dick to my other commenters, and don't leave more than one disagreement comment on a single post.

Freedom of speech means you can say what you like, it doesn't mean I have to listen to it and or give you a platform on my blog to spout your religious and or political views. You can say what you like any where you like and I can choose to ignore you any time I like.

Hey typo police

There's a much nicer way to tell me I've made a typo in one of my posts. It's called telling me by email. If you spot one please email me and don't leave what you think is a 'cute' or 'funny' comment in the comments section of the post where the typo was made. I delete all comments like that no matter who makes them Matty Boy.

Get over yourselves

Okay, this is my blog and here are some rules for commenters:

• Don't get into a pissing contest with me. If the terrain or weather where you live is different from mine, then that's cool, but there's also no need to tell me how much better yours is compared to mine. I know it gets colder north of here, I know it snows more north of here, I know it gets hotter south of here, I know there are mountains higher than there are here, so there is no need to tell me those things again.
  
• Refrain from using my comments section to argue with other commenters. If you feel strongly about what another commenter said and you have a blog, then please write about it there and don't post multiple comments on my blog.

It's hard to tell when you're joking, engaging in gentle ribbing, or actually pissed, so to save people's feelings from getting hurt just follow the above rules and there'll be no bad blood.

I welcome comments, even from people who disagree with my posts. However if you keep coming back to leave long ass comments on posts you disagree with then perhaps it's time you got your own blog. There's not need to call me "intellectually dishonest" simply because you disagree with me. In fact, when you call someone that it only shows how shallow and baseless your argument is. Also claiming that someone's book is "partisan" is pretty stupid as well because all books are partisan in that they are all colored somewhat by the person's views who wrote them.


Again, I invite anyone who disagrees with me to feel free to write about how wrong I am on your own blog. Unless you're "intellectually dishonest" that is.

I changed back to letting only registered users comment on my blog due to craven cowards who refuse to use their names when commenting. If you want to comment, then step up and open a blogger account and give your name. I apologize to Sean and others who are friends of the blog who do not have their Blogger account set up as of yet.
