Take it
The reason they give you so much anti nausea medication when you have chemo is because the diarrhea the chemo gives you is so foul smelling that you need to have something to stop you from vomiting when you smell it. It smells like something that diarrhea ate and made it so sick that it got really smelly foul malodorous diarrhea.
You're welcome.
You're welcome.

Once more with feeling
I went back for another same day surgery this past Monday to get my port repositioned. And I let it be known to any of those asshole staff at that awful place that I was not happy to be back in there so soon.
Some seemed mystified as to why I wouldn't shout 'Good Morning' back at them when they brayed it at me with idiotic glee. I told most of them that it most decidedly wasn't a good morning for me since I was back in there due to their incompetence. And most all of them didn't want to hear me say that, so they chose to ignore me once those words left my lips. But in the end I got the message across. My surgeon was contrite and almost regretful that he had fucked up the week before and he was apologetic towards Sparky and our other friend who she had invited to sit with her during my surgery. But the nurse who asked my why I was back didn't like it when I told her that I was back so they could fix their fuck up, and the Turkish anesthesiologist definitely didn't like it when I was deferential enough to him, but fuck all of them, hard, with the knobby cock of Dick Cheney, because I didn't want to hear any bullshit, be anybody's buddy, or listen to excuses, I wanted get in get fixed and then get the fuck out.
Which thankfully is just what happened. And this time they left the needle hooked up to my chemo port so I could get at least one treatment.
Which is what happened the next day. I finally got my first full chemo treatment the next day, it took about 6 hours and they sent me home with a bag of chemo drugs and a pump that automatically pumps it into me over the course of 48 hours. I get the needle, the dressing, and the pump taken off tomorrow, which means I'll be able to take a proper shower for the first time in days.
This whole business has been an ordeal what with the shitty staff of Franklin Woods, the sniping and blaming of each other offices in the mess over my port installation, and the shitty treatment I've received in trying to get copies of my medical records pertaining to all of this. The only people who have been decent to us have been my pharmacist Brian Bevins, my many friends who been by to see me and who brought food, their precious children, or just their company, and some of the staff at my oncologist's office. I'm thankful for all those people and for the fact that I haven't had many of the more pernicious side effects that my type of chemo can produce. So far, I've stayed ahead of the curve on the nausea and the diarrhea, and the only thing I've noticed is the expected extreme sensitivity to cold.
I'm glad to be almost done with my first chemo treatment but I'm already dreading then putting the needle back in me on the date of my next treatment, I'm anxious to see if it will go back in with out me having to go under the knife yet again. Only time will tell,

Spoke too soon
I did not start chemo as planned today because they fucked up the port placement inside me. It's not on a place where the needles that will deliver the drugs can get to easily, so they have to open me up again and reposition it.
This fucking sucks donkey balls.
And so does Mountain States Health Alliance.

Finally
The chemo port is finally in me but Trauma Services tried to dick me around one last time by giving me the wrong time for the appointment. I'll be ever so glad not to have to deal with then when this is all over with.
Anyway, they commence the chemo tomorrow.

No port in the storm
I was supposed to get my chemo port installed last week, a chemo port is a device they implant just under your skin in order to feed the cancer killing chemicals into you, but since the incompetent staff at Mountain States Medical Group-Trauma Services was involved it didn't happen.
My oncologist's office had called them to schedule the procedure but someone in Trauma Services fucked up the request. And the reason I know it was Trauma Services and not my oncologist's office is the people, with the exception of the front desk staff, in my oncologist's office treat patients with respect and they actually explain things to them in a manner that's not condescending. But before I knew Trauma Services had fucked up, I went in to their office for my 2 PM appointment last Thursday, I expected to get the procedure done then, but they told me they don't do surgery in the office and they acted like I should somehow magically know that shit, and then they told me I wouldn't even be seeing a doctor that day because the doctor that was supposed to see me didn't want to take the time out of his day to see someone else's patient. But they made me sit in their smelly waiting room for over 45 minutes before they told me any of that shit.
When they saw how visibly angry Sparky and I were over their cavalier and rude treatment of me and my condition, they had some nurse who looked like she'd been a meth addict for a few years usher me back and tell me that before they could do anything I had to sign a consent form. I asked Nurse Methhead if they had even made an appointment for me to get the procedure done in Same Day Surgery, she said they had not because I had not signed my form. Once I signed it I asked her when they planned to make the appointment, she said they'd make it THAT AFTERNOON and they'd call me back and tell me what time it was for. Of course NO ONE called me from that office later that afternoon and after I placed two calls to them, I found out that the person who does the scheduling had left for the day. So not only does my time mean nothing to these people, they have no compunction about lying to me about scheduling appointments and returning my calls. It's painfully obvious to me that everyone in that office works for the insurance companies and not for patients.
The next day I spoke to them again after they didn't call me, and I found out I'm to get this port installed on Tuesday morning, the day before I get my first chemo treatment. Which means my chest is going to be sore as hell when I get my first treatment, whose side effects could cause me to have even worse diarrhea than I do now, extreme nausea, give me sores in my mouth and throat, give me rashes, and cause numbness in my feet and hands. So thanks Trauma Services for the extra pain your incompetence is heaping on me, because the side effects of the chemo won't be enough for me to deal with. Seriously staff at Trauma Services, fuck you.
I've filled my anti nausea prescriptions, got a bottle of the 'magic mouthwash' should I get the sores, and I'm ready to start chemo, that is if the dolts at Trauma Services haven't screwed me over yet again.
We'll see.

Cancer update
I go for a CT scan today and a PET scan tomorrow to see if there is any more cancer in me. Even if there isn't, I'll still be getting chemo for six months, two shots every two weeks. My hair isn't supposed to fall out and the anti nausea drugs are supposed to be top notch, so we'll see how it goes.
Wish me luck.
Wish me luck.

Setting the record straight
A local convenience store chain is raising money for St. Jude's Hospital. For a donation, typically a dollar, you get to put your name or a message on a little card that they then hang up.
Some idiot bought one and wrote this on it:
As if to say, "That other person didn't love Jesus enough!," some other idiot bought one and wrote this on it:
I had had enough. I bought one and I wrote this on it:
It's true, science did help save that kid. After all if prayer worked, then they'd have taken that kid to a church or a parsonage. That shit doesn't work, science and medicine do .
