Hey old white folks, when should you call the police on black people?

"As soon as they show up."
"When they get loud and threatening?"

"When their men leave with out making sure the women they're sexually pleasuring has an orgasm."

"Hang on, did she just admit she has sex with black males?  I had no idea the extent that they were sexing up our ugly older women."

"When they offer you their overly spiced foods and then demand that you agree with them when they say that their lives matter."

"Ummmm, when you see them break the law."

Mike Ditka says there's been no racial oppression for a hundred years, do you agree with him?

"Totally.  I haven't seen any oppression so it's obviously not there.  And I won't believe you if you try to show me any because people like Al Sharpton and the NAACP made it up in order to keep people stirred up and so they can make money off it."

"All that racial oppression ended when the slaves were freed.  Just ask any white land owner."

"Racial oppression?  If anything it's us white males who are racially oppressed.  Affirmative action is oppressing us, the women's movement is oppressing us, the gay rights crowd is taking away our freedoms, and the Negroes have joined forces with the Chinks, the wops, the drunken Indians, and the slopes to further take away our rights.  So hell yes, Ditka is spot on but the Jews in the media won't let him go further like I just did."

"Hang on, Mr. Ditka just recently disavowed those divise comments and said that yes. there has been racial oppression and that he hates discrimination of all kinds."

"Ditka is a god damned race traitor!  He's in bed with the politically correct Black Lives Matter crowd.  He needs to be strung up for turning his back on the white race!  He will not replace us!  Land and freedom!  Fuck him and his blood libel!"

The flaw in your 'logic'

Anti black lives matter white men love to tout the gang violence in Chicago as a reason not to acknowledge that there's a problem with police violence in the black community. But Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, and Alton Sterling weren't from Chicago, didn't die in Chicago, and weren't gang members in Chicago.

What matters to you ladies?

"Hair spray matters, this hairdo doesn't happen on it's own you know."
"Family Matters, I love that show.  Urkel is my homeboy!"

"Black lives matter."

"Did someone already say that anti matter matters?  Because if they didn't then put me down for that one.  I'mma copyright that shit and make some bank on it.  Boo ya!"

"Whatever my minister at church says.  He does all the thinking for for us, which in a way means that my minister matters.  But don't tell him I said that, he doesn't like us coming to conclusions on our own, he says that's how feminism, homosensuality, and evolution got started."

Black Lives Matter in East Tennessee

On a beautiful warm sunny August day, the anniversary of the day that Micheal Brown was gunned down in Ferguson, MO, a group of over two hundred people gathered in one of the most politically, socially, and religiously conservatives areas of the south to say with one voice that black lives matter.  They stood together against racism and in support of accountability for the police in particular and for the justice system as a whole.

Once gathered and ready with their anti racist, pro love for all signs, they marched down one of the main streets in Johnson City.  Their over two hundred strong voices chanted for peace, justice, and love.  Once they reached downtown with their message they marched on to Founder's Park and gathered to hear several speakers talk about their life experiences and how to dismantle racism.  It was a positive, energetic inclusive event.

Despite fear-mongering in the local print media, most notably in the pages of the right leaning Johnson City Press, there was little opposition to the march.  Days before the march the Press had breathlessly warned that white supremacist groups would counter demonstrate and perhaps clash with the black lives matter folks.  Turns out this was nonsense.  Only token opposition in the form of three lonely misguided under educated Confederate flag waving troglodytes showed up to try to derail the march with their message of hate.  After being roundly mocked, they succeeded in making one young woman cry and satisfied with that 'victory' they turned tail and ran, leaving the rest of the marchers to celebrate justice, love, and peace.

The overwhelming message of the rally was a call for an end to institutional racism, for police accountability, and the need for true bottom up social movements to bring the kind of positive change to the east Tennessee region that would hopefully spread to the USA as a whole.

It was a historic march and a huge step forward for human rights, equality, and togetherness in the mountain south.

Scenes from our Black Lives Matter march in Johnson City

We had a great turn out, around 225 people of all colors.  And only three racists showed up.  The times, they are a changing.

Shame

I was born in 1962 in Detroit, MI.  I was lucky enough to hit the genetic lottery, I was born white and male.  I can remember bits of the race riots that hit my hometown in 1967.  I remember when MLK got shot.  I remember hoping it would get better for black folks.  Tonight's decision not to indict the cop who murdered Mike Brown shows me nothing is ever going to change in the USA.  Cops will kill at will, many white people will blame black folks for the misery brought on by the inherent racism in our political and economic system, and the rich will get richer by pitting working people of different colors against each other.

I'm discouraged.  I'm downhearted.  I hoped we were better than this as a country.  It's clear we're not.
