An open letter to the Huffington Post

Dear Huffington Post,

Can you give us a break with putting the fight for the Democratic Party nomination on the top of your page please? Seriously, we've already got the Drudge Report and the other corporate media doing their best to keep that bit of news in front of the American people. Could you do us all a favor and use your allegedly progressive soapbox to hightlight the fact that Bush McCain is now the Republican nominee?
Would it kill you to do stories on his flip flops and how he has left the center of his party and moved to the far right? How about a few more stories on how he has backed off his stance on waterboarding and torture and is now in support of the Bush administration's illegal and immoral position? Or maybe you could do a months worth of stories on how he is the same as Bush.
Perhaps instead of insinuating that the Hillary Obama fight is causing huge rifts in the country, you could remind people that McCain is the Washington lobbyists best friend and that lobbyists run his campaign. Just for shits and giggles you could go after his "maverick" image that it turns out he has shed in order to become the Republican nominee.

And one more thing while I've got you, how about you do more stories on how the gap between the haves and the have nots is widening even as I write this little missive to you. And if you feel like it, run a few more stories on how most of the people in this country want universal single payer health care for all and that the people who oppose it are big pharma and the insurance companies.

I'm gonna stop reading you if you don't lay off the Democrats and start laying into the Republicans right this second.

Yours truly,
Dr. Monkey

You know what I'm thinking? That the media should just chill on the campaign news and bull a bit. War almost breaks out between Ecuador and Colombia (well, not really), and Chávez amasses his troops on the Colombian border ... and all we ever hear about ... ad nauseum ... is Clinton/Obama/McCain . How 'bout alternating days? One day of news, the next day the campaign. Then we might be able to find out about stuff without having to dig. But other than that, I'm with ya, bro.

Well said and so true good Doctor!

It is insufferable and stupid on top of that.

Oh, how I wish this damn thing would've been over on Tuesday for precisely this reason. All this wasted energy not directed at whom it should be directed at. Wankers.

Shhh.

You'll disturb the lie that Democrats are in chaos while Republicans are united.

Which would force the members of the press to actually address real issues rather than made up memes they follow in their playbooks.

how much money are the democrats gonna spend before we face McCain? the party has raised more money than the republicans but it will all be wasted before the general election begins! anyway, sure I don't agree with everybody all the time, that doesn't mean I won't get behind whoever wins the primary.

Mark-You're right, it is sad that they don't report on the news that really affects us all.

Fran-Thanks.

Beth-Okay, I shall.

micgar-You and everybody else my friend.

Dcap-I'm still waiting.

Mwb-You're so correct my man.

Liberality-You are right, they need to focus on fighting McCain and not one another.

You are a monster for what you say about the Huffington Post. It reminds me of Ken Starr.
