The early monkey gets the vote

I took advantage of early voting today and I cast my ballot in the TN Democratic primary race.

Who did I vote for you ask? I know I said I was going to vote for Edwards if he was still on the ballot but when I thought long and hard about it I wanted my vote to count towards something positive and I wanted my vote to help a candidate who was still running to get some delegates. Most of you know how I feel about the former First Lady, Mrs. Wal-Mart Clinton, so I was left with only one choice, and I actually feel pretty good about him being the Democratic Party's nominee. That's right boys and girls, I voted for Barack Obama.
I like the idea of having a black President. Especially one who was out organizing and helping to make his community a better place while Hillary was sitting on the board of the company which has done more to erode workers rights and to kill small locally owned businesses than most any other, Wal-Mart.

Obama is not perfect, no candidate ever is, but he's a damn sight better than Hillary. I also like the fact that someone I respect and admire greatly, Caroline Kennedy, endorsed him and that Jimmy Carter while not endorsing yet, has lavished a good amount of praise on him.

I'd like to see him pick John Edwards or Gov. Kathleen Sebelius or even Gov. Richardson of New Mexico as his running mate. And I'd also like to see him pick Dennis Kucinich to be Sec. of Labor, can you imagine the gains working people would make if Kucinich was Sec. of Labor?

The other benefit of electing Barak Obama would be we'd finally get a beautiful, smart, and did I mention glamorous First Lady.

If you live in a state that is having a primary next week, I urge you all to go vote for the Democratic Party candidate of your choice, but I hope you'll back Barack.

i'm so annoyed that i'd already voted for edwards and mailed in my absentee ballot on monday... well, at least i didn't have to decide between obama and hillary! but i suppose i would have chosen obama too, all things considered. that walmart-hillary thing really bothers me...

Because I live in Iowa, we were fortunate enough to have met all of the democratic candidates, more than one or two times each! I went to listen to Ms. Obama and let me tell you, she's a very smart, funny, confident woman! You can consider a Obama nomination a 2-fer! She's as smart and wonderful as he is! It is time for change, and now that Edwards is out of it, (what a shame), my support is with Obama. But whomever gets the nod, I'm working my tail off up here to get a DEMOCRAT in the white house!

Although what he would acomplish in office remains to be seen, Obama is certainly one of the more charismatic and inspiring presidential candidates to come along in a while.

On behalf of my fellow Canucks (the hockey loving and mild mannered folks who live to the north of most of you) I hope you can boot those neocon gorillas out of the oval office with a strong dem candidate.

(PS - I would like to apologize to the gentle and intelligent mountain gorillas who I unfairly associated with the neocons. Really, it wouldn't be fair to any animal to compare them to the sociopathic bottom feeders that have reeked havoc in Washington these last 7 years).

You know, just the fact that you thought about it so friggin' much is something quite admirable.

I actuallymet a woman the other day who did not know Hillary was running. She must be with the 60% or so qualified voters who don't vote. (At least I hope she doesn't vote. That might be Huckabee''s demographic.)

I'll probably caucus for Obama. Edwards is still my candidate of choice, but I guess I have to accept reality and move on.

Notosccermom-Edwards did keep saying he was in it till the convention.

Cheesecake-I'll be helping if Obama gets the nod. I won't attack Hillary outright if she gets it.

Westcoast-I hope we get the corporate thugs out too.

Alyson-Yep. I can see that. Have you voted yet?

Freida-No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

mnmom-Move on like I had to. :(

I just can't get past the fact that this glamorous lady was on the board of directors of a Wal-Mart vendor up until about 10 weeks ago. And Morgan Stanley and Goldman/Sachs and JP Morgan Chase and Citigroup and Big Pharma backing Obama so generously.

All of that, plus Obama's vague promise of "change" instead of an actual stance on the issues... I'm not even sure I'm going to vote in the primary anymore.

Sorry, that was in May, not in November, that Michelle left TreeHouse.

What Samuraifrog said. I just can't get behind Obama; his positions now are all too convenient (esp his support of GLBTs), and he seems to be all style and no substance. I've no doubt he's a brilliant man, but I gotta go with Hillary. She's a ball-busting bitch, and I'm ready for a ball-busting bitch to get into the White House and kick some ass (and balls).

And besides, I've always thought of Bill as "beautiful, smart, and did I mention glamorous"!!

No candidate is perfect, as you say. I am voting for Obama as well. If for no other reason, Hillary is unable to leave her baggage behind. I may agree with her views (BO an HC both agree on just about everything, really) but she will galvanize the Republican party like no one else could.

Samurai Frog has left disparaging remarks about the Democratic party on my blog as well. Let him vote for Ralph Nader, or John McCain.

Ouch, Dr. Zaius. I'm not disparaging the Democratic party. I just don't like corporate candidates. Thanks for the benefit of the doubt, though.

After reading The Shock Doctrine (which EVERYONE, especially you guys in the US, should read) it is so important to know on which boards our elected officials sit, if on any. It's so key - and something I wouldn't necessarily have thought of prior to reading that book.

Rumsfeld sat on the board of a company that sold nuclear weapon materials to NORTH KOREA, for God's sake!

Anywho...I'm rooting for Obama up here in frigid Canada. But I'm not holding my breath.

I always said I would vote for the first candidate who said "Yeah I smoked pot. A long time ago. So fucking what?"
Well, that and other reasons too. I agree with Dr. Zaius, HRC's got too much baggage.
This country needs a hard reboot. HRC is like Ctl+Alt+Del. Doesn't fix the problem, just a panacea.

Good choice. I would say to Hillary backers that George Bush got elected to some degree as a result of Clinton fatigue. Watching Billo's antics in South Carolina, and the number of people in her campaign who've brought up Obama's drug use and race, has been a sleazy reminder of what the Clinton's have on offer.

I think it's time for undecided Democrats to read Chris Hitchen's book "No One Left To Lie To" about the Clintons.

Also, for what it's worth, MoveOn just endorsed Obama.

My parents did the early vote, too. My mother told me yesterday that she voted for Edwards.

I was planning on voting for him, too. He'll still be on the ballot-- the ballots have already been printed, and it's too late to remove him. I'm tempted to vote for him anyway.

i was gonna vote edwards on tuesday -- but i have decided to vote obama. i cant stand Mrs Walmart for a lot of reasons -- i wish she would just stay as our "esteemed" senator ----

no candidate is perfect or ideal -- and the MSM will ensure that any candidate is part of the electoral soap opera.

but nothing will be worse than a candidate that will actually rally a collapsing republican party -- and that is hillary

Monkey-our caucus is Tuesday and I now think that I will vote for Obama. Hillary just has too much baggage.
