Hippocratic oaf

This is the jack ass doctor who doesn't want to treat anyone who voted for Obama now that health care reform has become law. I'm guessing his deal is he hates big government. Which means all the people on any kind of government backed insurance who used to be his patients, will now have to go elsewhere. Oh wait, no they won't, because he's a hypocrite who loves what government does for him but hates it when government helps out those less fortunate than him.

Soon and very soon

Now that health care reform has passed the House, it's on to the Senate where Harry "Milquetoast" Reed says he's got the votes to pass it. Once it passes in the Senate it's on to President Obama's desk for a signature then it becomes law. As soon as it becomes law I'm going to start aborting babies
and killing your grandma.
To be honest with you, I really don't want to do those things but the law says I have to. It's out of my hands. The least you could do is tell your granny I'm coming after her so she can have a head start on me, it'll make it more fun for all of us.

Thanks for finally doing something right for a change Nancy Pelosi!

Poor guy...

...his name must be Public Option.

If you're going to hear the truth, then you might as well hear it from me

Some progressives and liberals are claiming the health insurance reform that was passed recently by the House of Representatives is a 'sell out' and/or an insult to working people, a slap in the face of women, the worst thing ever, and possibly the end of western civilization as we know it. They site the Stupak amendment, the fact that the bill is not single payer national health insurance, or that it didn't include something they thought it should, or that it included too much stuff they didn't want in it.

To those people I have this to say: get over it. Modern politics is all about compromise. And compromise means that you get some of what you want and some of what you don't want. In this age of hyper partisan politics we constantly expect that if our political party is in the majority then we get all of what we want enacted into law. Ummm, sorry to burst your bubbles but it doesn't work that way. In order to pass a bill you give away some things in order to get others. You and I may not like it, and I know I don't because I want European style single payer health insurance for all, but that's the way it is.

And you know what else? It's going to stay that way until you organize enough to oust the people you don't like and then you organize some more to elect the people you do like. But even if you do that then you still have to contend with the power of corporate money in our political system. Until we get rid of the tidal wave of corporate money that floods our political system and we go to 100% public financing for our elections then things will always be the way they are now. So what you people who want things changed need to do is to organize and work to oust politicians and judges who favor keeping the legal fiction that corporations are persons and have the same rights as you and I. And you also need to work to oust judges and politicians who say that political donations are a form of speech and therefore protected under the First Amendment.

There's another group of folks on the left who need to get over themselves too and that's those who say that the Democrats who voted against the health care bill aren't real Democrats and they should leave the party. One quick word to those that say that, and that word is, NO. You folks are sounding like Republicans. See folks, political parties are made up of all kinds of folks and some of those people are more conservative or more liberal than you. Do I like it that so many Democrats voted against the bill? No. But are they had their reasons, some like my man Dennis Kucinich voted against it because it's not single payer, and some like Heath Schuler and Rick Boucher voted against it because they represent heavily Republican districts and they want to be seen as 'tough' and 'standing up to' Nancy Pelosi. I guarantee you that those men would have voted for the bill if their votes meant passage or failure for the bill.

What those of you on the left who oppose this bill need to understand is that it is real reform, reform that we've needed for many many years. And like I and many others have said, it's a good start. Now please, before you leave me any long winded comments or write me off all together, go back and re read the previous sentence. This bill is JUST A START. And a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. I want single payer, but I am supporting this bill. And I know that if I really want single payer health insurance in this country then I need to get out and organize my neighbors, go door to door and explain why it will bring down the cost of health care and actually save small business, I could care less about big business and in fact, I hope big business fails and takes the corrupt financial system with it.

And to those disaffected Hillary supports out there who want all attempts at health insurance reform to fail because Obama is President and not Hillary, I say, kiss my ass. You people are lower than pond scum. You'd gladly see millions of your fellow citizens go without health insurance just so you can gloat about breaking President Obama. And if you idiots think that Hillary wouldn't have made the same concessions that President Obama has in this fight then think again. She'd have made the same ones and possibly even more. After all Hillary enriched herself while sitting on the board of directors of Wal Mart while it put hundreds of thousands of small businesses out of business.

It's not single payer national health insurance for all but it's a good start

The House of Representatives passed a national health insurance bill today. My Congressman, Phil 'Douchebag' Roe voted against it and so did the Republican wanna be from across the mountain in NC, Heath 'I'm a washed up NFL quaterback' Schuler.

Both men are a disgrace to working people in this area of the mountain south. Some one needs to crack open a can of

and pour it down their throats.

While the bill that's been passed is not single payer national health insurance for all, which I strongly favor, it's a good first step. Let's see what the corporate owned US Senate does with it now. Will Harry 'Craven Coward' Reed carry the day or will he keep his nose buried in Olympia Snowe's ass and screw us all once again? We'll see, we'll see.

And there was much rejoicing that day...

...when the kittens heard that the American Association of Retired People (AARP), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Cancer Society (ACS) had all endorsed the Democratic party's health insurance reform bills. The feeling that with these damn dirty socialist groups on board that health insurance reform might actually pass and become a reality. And other kittens saw this as a good first step towards national singlepayer health insurance for all.

The belle of the insurance company ball is getting ready to...

...screw us all. Traitor Joe is going to help the Republicans filibuster the health care reform bill.

After all the shit the Blue Dog 'Democrats' put us through over this thing and now Lieberman's treachery, do you really need any more convincing that the US Senate has been bought and paid for by the multi national corporations? Almost every member of the US Senate is beholden to some corporation and they put their interests in front of ours every single time.

Shame on you Connecticut for returning that snake to the Senate. Shame on you Harry Reid for letting him keep his chairmanship and seniority on all his old committees. And shame on us for letting corporations have so much control over our politics and our lives.

I'm sorry, but I really must protest

The call went out Monday that there was going to be a pro health care reform demonstration the next day in my fair city. I saw it on my friend Rev. John Shuck's Facebook wall and since Shuck is one of the two ministers of the Christian faith who I have any respect for, the fictional Father Ted is the other, I knew I had to get out on the firing line to do my bit and help with the cause. So Monday evening, after arranging a ride to the demonstration, I went to the craft store and I bought a foam core poster board and a big ass marker, and Tuesday morning I made this sign to brandish at the unsuspecting citizens of east Tennessee:
My friend and partner in protesting, Snad, picked me up Tuesday afternoon and we hit our target area, one of the busiest intersections in town.
The weather was perfect and about 3o some other health care reform supporters showed up and we waved and held up our signs for all the folks to see for about two hours. Besides Snad, Shuck, and myself, there were a bunch of other great folks who stuck their necks out to show the area that there are indeed people who want health care reform and who support everything from Medicare for all to the public option to single payer national health insurance for all. Some of these fine folks got their picture on the website of the local conservative daily paper:
And this gal who works for this organization was there was well:
And these folks were with the local media or the Department of Homeland Security, or maybe both, were there:
Also in attendance was the blogger Southern Female Lawyer, who is not only a lawyer with liberal political leanings, she's also a damn fine cook and singer as well. It turns out Snad knows her and she pointed her out to me. After getting the courage up to go introduce myself to her I began to cross the busy street only to see her and her son walking towards their car. Curse my bad timing! However I did get a chance to shout at her as she sat in traffic, "I'm Dr. Monkey!" I'm pretty sure she flinched and threw a protective arm around her young son, but when she saw how human I looked she waved and said something that I couldn't make out. One day perhaps our paths will cross again and I'll be able to introduce myself properly, and to perhaps beg her to cook something for me.

Now, as far as reaction to our demonstration went, it went surprisingly well despite the fact that God hates protesters. (Fez tip to Tumble Dumble that link.) As I have found during these kinds of protests you get three reactions, those who are positive, those who are negative, and those who would rather chew their own arm off rather than acknowledge you and I'm proud to say that positive reaction beat out negative reaction by a margin of 70 % to 30 %. The number of people who told us we were number one in their hearts and minds by showing us their middle finger during this demonstration was two. The number who scowled at us or gave us the thumbs down was about fifteen. And the number of folks who gave the the thumbs up, honked, waved in support, or shouted nice things to us as they passed was way over one hundred. So not bad at all for a two hour demonstration in this politically conservative area of east Tennessee, which leads me to believe that despite what Fox News would have you believe, rank and file Republican party voters want health care reform.

It felt good to exercise my free speech rights today and to stand with my fellow citizens to show my support for this great cause.

One thing leads to another

I asked some 1970's food service professionals what else they thought President Obama's health care reform might lead to. Here are their responses:

"Besides government take over of all health related businesses, it's going to lead us to water but it can't make us drink."

"It's going to lead to more pants suits and more Aqua Net hair spray!"

"It had better lead to more stylish glasses or I'm gonna be pissed."

"It's going to lead to more meddling kids sniffing around that abandoned amusement park and god damn it, I'm not happy about it."

"It's going to lead to long walks on the beach, romantic music, and smoldering looks across a crowded bar. Oh wait, that's what's going to happen after you fall in love with me after I slip you a roofie and have my way with you."

They were young, they were pretty, they were sentenced for crimes against Obama 'Death Panels'

"I spoke out against the socialist fascist idea of covering all Americans with government run health insurance and they told me to shut up and said I had to wear this ridiculous hat with this blouse. I may be smiling, but if you look closely enough at my eyes, you'll see that I'm dead on the inside now."

"We disagreed with the President on gay marriage so our death panel told us we had to spend the next 10 years making out with each other while dressed in silky nighties. They very idea of us kissing each other makes me excited, ummm, I mean, it makes me sick. Yeah, that's it, the very idea of kissing her soft wet ruby red lips and letting her tongue probe my hot wet mouth while she caresses me and gives me pleasure makes me want to throw up."

"My death panel made me shear a sheep and use the wool to make this sweater. I damn sure didn't want to learn how to do that shit because now I bet they'll send me to some hell hole like New Zealand when it's sheep shearing season down under. I wanted to be a fucking ballerina instead. They ruined my life. I hate socialism."

"The death panel I saw told me I could wear only this slip from now on. I am to go topless until I die. What will happen when my now perky boobs start to sag? Will the teenage boys still flock to me and stare at my tits in awe? Well? Will they?"

"My death panel was super nice. I told them I was dying of cancer and that all my hair had fallen out due to the chemo. So they made me this nice hat thingy and they offered to make me a wig I could wear in my coffin when I die. The wig is going to be made from hair harvested from the heads of Christian boys and girls who are going to be brainwashed by our glorious leader President Obama next week. I hope I live long enough to hear his great brainwashing speech."

Sense and nonsense

Let's talk about health insurance reform. Well, okay, to be honest, I'll talk and you can listen. There's a lot of misinformation and outright lies going around in the latest struggle to reform our health care system and I'm going to cut through some of it and put out some salient facts you need to know.
  • The best way to cut costs and cover every citizen in this country is to go to a single payer not for profit system but the conservatives and some incumbents in Washington DC don't want everyone covered, they only want to cover the backsides of their big donors in the health care industry.
  • The money people are spending on the shitty insurance, and most private for profit insurance out there is shitty and you and I both know it, would be spent on other things thereby stimulating other parts of our economy if we had single payer not for profit health insurance for all.
  • The only people for profit health care helps is the health insurance companies.
  • Most personal bankruptcies in this country are due to crushing medical debt. Most people who take a bankruptcy for this reason have for profit insurance.
  • Medicare, the Veterans Administration hospitals, and the insurance that Congressmen and women and their staffs get is government run health care. If you claim to hate socialism and do not want others to have government run health care and you partake in any of these named programs, then you need to stop being a hypocrite and opt out of them.
  • It's clear why Republicans want to stop health insurance reform, they want to protect their corporate donors and they don't want President Obama to have any legislative victories. What is unconscionable is that there are members of the Democratic party who will not stand up and fight for health insurance reform. What's even worse than that however is the fact that there are people who want health insurance reform but who don't want President Obama to be the Democratic President who gets it done.
  • Single payer not for profit government funded health insurance for all would be a blessing to businesses all over this country. Companies in Sweden, Germany, France, and Canada are competitive because they do no have foot the huge expenses of employee health insurance plans.
  • Morally, single payer health care for all is the only way to go. Since this is a Christian nation, he said rolling his eyes, I'm sure all you good Christians will remember that Jesus said something along the lines of what you do for the poorest folks you do for him. So by denying the poor, the working poor, and everyone else health insurance, we're denying Jesus health care. Way to go Christians, way to deny your savior his medical care. You bastards!
  • People of intelligence and goodwill can disagree on this issue but if you resort to calling the President a Nazi, which he can't be if he's also a socialist, or by saying that he's out to kill white or old folks, then you automatically should be shut out of the debate because you bring nothing to the debate but a big bowl of steaming hot stupid.

No go

It would be nice if President Obama could get people like Sen. Grassley, seen here inviting Capitol Hill visitors to sniff the end of his cane after his date last night,
and Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Crazytown), seen here giving a speech on the floor of the House,
on board with health care reform but it's no use. The Republican party has been against every social program that has ever come up, they opposed Medicare, they opposed Social Security, they opposed all the New Deal programs, they opposed workplace safety rules, they opposed Workmen's Comp. legislation, they opposed labor unions, and they opposed child labor laws. So in short Republicans if there has been a law passed and a program created that helps a great number of people, then the Republicans have opposed it.

So it's time to cut them loose and do the right thing on health care. It's time to go even further than the President wants, it's time to go even further then the current bill in the House of Reps wants to go, it's time to go the single payer national health insurance for all route. And if we don't get it, then we need to find ways to bleed the system dry and to bankrupt it until we get what we want.

They've got 6 lobbyists for every member of Congress on their side. They've got billions of dollars to spend to keep the current corrupt system in place. All you and me have is each other. The deck and the odds are stacked against us, but I still think we can pull this thing off.

A short list of old people not yet killed by the British and Canadian health care systems

The right wing pro private insurance lobbyists and flacks are claiming that single payer health care will kill old people in the USA. But if that was true wouldn't it also have killed old people in countries that have had government run health care for decades? Sure it would. But somehow the Rolling Stones continue to cheat the government death squads:

So has Canadian funny man Leslie Nielsen:
And this old bird and her husband have evaded government sponsored death for many years now:
Wayne Gretzky still walks the earth:
And finally the Canadian system tried to kill hockey hall of famer Gordie Howe

but he managed to kick it's ass.

What single payer government run health care will really do for the senior citizens of this country is make their lives better since all of them will now have access to quality health care and other medical services.

Public Option My Ass

I've decided that if we don't get a single payer Canadian/European style health care plan out of this heath care reform overhaul then I am not supporting whatever corporate approved plan Congress gives us. Fuck a public option, fuck anything but single payer health insurance for all Americans. The Canadian/European models are not perfect but they are the best thing for everyone. If we don't get single payer, then we need to find ways to throw monkey wrenches in the system until it breaks or goes bankrupt.

We found enough money to pay for two unnecessary wars and to subsidize corporate corn and sugar farms that wreck our environment, it's high fucking time we found enough money to give all our citizens health care that includes dental and mental care too.

SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE NOW!

Tom Daschle is...

...a giant puss filled douchebag. He wants the public option dropped from the health care over haul. National health insurance is too important to let douchebags like Tom Daschle, who took millions from health care related companies while he was a lobbyist by the way, run it. Oust all the bastards, the douchebags, the lobyists, the asswipes from the AMA, and lets make them give us singlepayer national health insurance for all Americans, not just Congressmen, their staffs, and the obscenely wealthy.
