Twisted up in knots

It's always amusing to witness the right wing pundits in the wake of a heinous crime that's been committed by someone who says they are a conservative. And the current kerfuffle after the shooting spree in Norway has put them into an overdrive of denial.

Bill O'Reilly's marching orders were to 'prove' that the shooter wasn't a true Christian. And to prove his point he said that no true Christian would commit a mass murder like that. I guess BillO forgot all about the Spanish who slew all those Inca in Mexico, the white folks in the US cavalry who murdered all those Indians in the 19th century, and about all the Muslims that the Europeans killed during the crusades. Gosh, some of those people were bound to be good Christians. Weren't they Bill?

Pam Geller, high priestess of Muslim hate, says that the Norway shooter was just a madman who acted alone and that she bears no responsibility even though he mentions her in his manifesto. Actually Pammy, you bear a hell of a lot of responsibility in this attack. It's hateful screeds like yours that gave this guy the idea to do what he did. The logical end of your hate filled rants against Muslims is a horrible mass crime like this.

Michael Savage, a man so odious that the British won't let him into their country, says that the Norway shootings are a left wing conspiracy. Savage is so over the top insane that I'm not even going to pick this one apart, except to say that everything from sun spots to a dog shitting on Savage's front lawn is a left wing conspiracy.

Pat Buchanan says that the real threat isn't from home grown right wing terrorists like the Norway shooter. No, the real threat according to Buchanan, is Muslims who refuse to assimilate, which is right wing code for them not becoming Christians. It's not the haters who commit the violent acts, the real threat is from the people who the haters hate.

And finally, no one on FOX Noise will admit the shooter in Norway was a conservative Christian. They hem and haw around that little fact and then in a month of two he'll become a leftist because his parents are left wing.

Once again, they'll have 'proven' the old adage that all political violence is perpetrated by the left. That's right, the people who hate guns and who want to end the wars of terror are once again responsible for all the politically motivated violence everywhere in the world. And FOX and all the right wing pundits they employ once more triumph over sanity and the facts.

Wrong again

So another Christian group was wrong yet again. I'd tell these idiots to stop making these kind of idiotic sweeping announcements and to stick with what they do best, but then I realized that along with using their fairy tale book as an excuse to hate on and abuse others, this kind of thing is the kind of thing that they do best.

Every day they make me glad I'm not one of them. Every day they make me glad I'm an atheist.

Fuck you America...

and fuck you too Sarah Palin, FOX News, Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, and all other right wing talk show hosts and pundits. Fuck you and god damn, I wish hell really existed so that you all would spend an eternity getting shot, raped, and tortured for all your hateful rhetoric. I blame every single gun loving racist teabagger and conservative media person for the attempted murder of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

And fuck the NRA and whoever supports them. Your fucking second amendment rights violate my right to life. I advise every one of you gun loving assholes to stick the barrel of your gun in your mouth and squeeze the trigger. If you're going to use those things to kill, use them to kill yourselves you pieces of shit.

Fuck you all for fucking this country up. You fucking murdering bastards.

Priorities

Even though I'm now an atheist, I used to be a practicing Christian and I've read the Bible, parts of it many many times, and I'm pretty sure that if we're a Christian nation then we've got our priorities out of whack.

I am 100% certain that Jesus would not want our tax dollars going to fund the wars
or terror on Iraq and Afghanistan.
And he wouldn't want us to fund Israel's holocaust of
and apartheid towards the Palestinian people.
I don't have a degree in Christian theology or anything but I'm fairly certain he'd want us to use that money to feed the poor, fully fund our schools and colleges, pay for national health insurance for all, to clothe the naked, house the homeless, and give clean water to those who thirst.

Olympic Profiles-Richard Jewell

Richard Jewell was a guy who wanted nothing more than to be in law enforcement and to be a hero. In 1996 at the Atlanta Olympiad he got his wish and it turned out to be a nightmare.

While working as a security guard during the games in his home state of Georgia Jewell, a heavy set man who had a myriad of health problems, not the least of which was diabetes, discovered a suspicious knapsack in one of the Olympic venues and called the Atlanta police in to check it out. He then did what the had wanted to do all his life, he kept others away from the knapsack because he thought there might be an explosive in it. Turns out when the knapsack exploded and filled air with gunpowder and nails he was right. One woman died as a result of her injuries and 11 others were injured from the bomb blast but there is no question that due to his quick thinking and quick action many people were saved from injury and death.

At first Jewell was hailed as a hero, and rightly so. But then the investigators got lazy and decided that perhaps Jewell was a glory hound who had planted the bomb himself so he look like a hero when he saved lots of people from being hurt or killed. Jewell found out he was a suspect from an article in his local newspaper. As soon as the story broke the FBI singled out Jewell as their number one suspect and they did their best to make the evidence fit their version of the crime. At one point a not so enterprising FBI agent tried to get Jewell to appear in a training film, which was a ruse to try to get him on camera admitting to something he did not do. For months the Atlanta police, the FBI, and the Justice Department made Jewell's life a living hell and the press, most notably the Atlanta Journal Constitution, NBC News, and CNN all decided that Jewell was guilty and they smeared him day after day on television and in print.

Finally in Oct. of '96 the Justice Department saw that there was no case against Jewell because he was innocent. So they dropped their prosecution of him and cleared him of all the charges. But since having your life turned upside down and your good name dragged through the mud would tend to piss one off, Jewell did the only thing he could do to clear his name in the court of public opinion, he sued NBC, CNN, and the parent company of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He won settlements against CNN and NBC but his case against the newspaper was ultimately tossed out of court.

Jewell's life never was the same after this incident due to the stress and hoopla of the case and the ensuing law suits but he did achieve a measure of closure when Christian terrorist, homophobe, and abortion clinic bomber Eric Rudolph admitted to setting the Olympic park bomb in Atlanta. Rudolph got life in federal prison and Jewell went on to work again in law enforcement where he was lauded for his 'conscientious' work. In 2006 the then Gov. of Georgia Sonny Perdue publicly thanked Jewell for his heroism in the Olympic bombing ordeal.

In 2007 Richard Jewell passed away from complications of his diabetes. His cause of death was listed as 'natural causes' but one would have to think that the ordeal of being hailed as a hero and then being the main suspect in the bombing that took a life and injured 11 others and the resultant media and law enforcement circus took years off Mr. Jewell's life, just as his diabetes did.

Jewell's Olympic moment proved to be both a great and terrible thing for him.

Why the rest of the world hates us

Sure the rest of the world hates us because we treat them like they exist to serve us, we use up natural resources faster than a family values Republican drops trou at a glory hole, and because we export all the worst things about our culture, bad movies, bad TV, pcorn syrup laden fast food, and unwavering support of dictatorships, the Zionists, and the almighty corporation. And they also hate us because we export our hypocritical Christian 'religion.'

And because they love to make things worse, some Baptists have decided to make the tragedy in Haiti all about them and not about the Haitian people. You see some 'missionaries' from some church in Idaho of all places decided they were going to fly down to Haiti and swoop up some orphan kids in order to save them from a life of voodoo, Santeria, and poverty. They were going to bring those orphans back to the USA where they can live with god fearing Jesus loving white folks because we all know all people every where want nothing more than to abandon their culture, their extended family, and every thing they know just so they can come and live in Jesusland where the Wal Marts stay open all day and night and McDonald's and Starbucks fill their empty belly's. Holy shit, just seeing what I wrote makes me wish that I was a dirty backwards brown skinned foreigner living in a place where a natural disaster hit just so I could take the help of those kind white folks and come and live in this paradise called the US of fuckin' A.

But these Baptists hit a little snag in their plans to rescue those orphans from their awful home country. Turns out they just waltzed down there, with typical American Christian swagger I'm sure, and started whisking kids out without going through the proper channels. Despite being in shambles the Haitian government put the kibosh on the 'missionaries.' And the Haitian authorities have gone so far as to say that these Baptists are child traffickers and kidnappers.

As is so often the case in situations like these, the childnappers Christian humility comes immediately to the fore, he said ironically. For the first two days since they got nabbed for trying to smuggle the kids out of Haiti the Idahoan kidnappers were kept in two small concrete rooms inside the police HQ in Port Au Prince, while hundreds of thousands of Haitian sleep and live outside because their homes were reduced to rubble in the earthquake. But wait, it gets worse for the missionaries. They have no electricity or air conditioning inside their two rooms! And they say it's not fun or fair. They're forced to live like animals while the Haitian people run around outside enjoying the cool breezes and the freedom of not having to pay their mortgages or rent any more! Disgusting!

Just when you thought our intrepid Christian do gooders couldn't have it any worse, it gets worse, because, well, it's almost like Jesus is fucking with them. It turns out that some of the kids they were trying to send out of the country weren't orphans at all! At least one little girl had parents who survived the quake, but I'm sure that didn't mean shit to the Baptists because we all know that desires of poor black folks don't hold a candle to the wishes of white folks who are out to kidnap kids and consign them to a life of slavery in the USA, oops, I mean, to save their wretched little souls and bring them up the way they think Jesus wants them to.

It's disgusting Christian hubris at it's worst. To want to go help is one thing, and it's admirable that so many people went to and are going to go to Haiti to help, but to go down there with the idea that kidnapping kids from the only life and culture they have ever known is as absurd as the idea of a virgin birth or original sin is. If you want to go help, then go fucking help and stop being such a sanctimonious ass. Do go and provide the kids with shelter, food, water, and loving care. Don't go and fill their heads with stories about your fucked up religion and don't assume they want to come live over here with your fat ass and your fat fucking family. People in trouble want help, not lectures about the need to accept Jesus Christ in their lives. Frightened kids want stability and order, they don't want to be torn from their parents and culture just because you think it will win you points with your god.
"What are missionaries Alex. I'll take 'Ways Christianity has Wreaked Havoc on the World' for $1000 please."

Finally, let's remember what Christian missionaries did to the native peoples who lived in Tiera Del Fuego, which is at the bottom tip of South America. The people who originally lived there had adapted to the almost constant cold and rain by becoming stocky and not growing very tall. They went naked year round and it worked for them. But when the missionaries from England hit their shores they preached the gospel and they made the natives wear western clothes, no doubt because it freaked them out to see naked breasts, vaginas, asses, and penises. To their detriment the natives listened and they stopped going naked and started wearing wool sweaters, which stayed wet most of the time, and pants, which stayed wet most of the time, and they changed their diets to match those of the people who came to tell them the good news about Jesus H. Christ. Turns out between catching the diseases the missionaries had become immune to but still spread nonetheless, eating all the imported foods that didn't agree with their digestive tracts, and staying wet in their western style clothes the natives of Tierra Del Fuego were wiped out within just a few years of coming into contact with those British missionaries.

Let's hope the people of Haiti don't succumb to the same fate.

Let's call a spade a spade

I haven't written about the Fort Hood shootings any because I wanted to see what the fall out would be and what the shooter would have to say if and when he ever talked. But since the rabid Christian right is shouting and braying that the alleged shooter (and that's the correct thing to call him since it has not been proven in a court of law that he did the shootings yet, and please you right wingers, remember that our justice system is based on the principle of innocent until proven guilty) is a Muslim terrorist I'm going to wade into this bullshit.

They claim that the alleged shooter is a Muslim jihadist bent on taking down Americans and the American way of life (but what they mean when they say 'American' is Christian). To them since he contacted a Muslim cleric in some dusty Middle Eastern country then he's got to be a terrorist, never mind that he contacted him for information relating to a paper he was writing for the Army. They also go on to say the President Obama is at fault for not weeding him out of the Army because doing so might have made some other Muslims mad, after all the President is a Muslim himself so he wanted to be politically correct and save his Muslim homeboys from embarrassment, never mind the fact that the alleged shooter was seen as a threat while Bush was in charge and nothing was done back then.
The guy is a Muslim and he killed Christian Americans and he shouted "Allahu abkar!" before he opened fire, so he's a terrorist.

What they fail to mention is that this guy is also a terrorist:
Remember him? He's the guy who shot up a Unitarian church in Knoxville because he wanted to kill liberals, which he did by the way until one of those lily livered liberals kicked his ass and held him for the cops, and he's the guy you never hear anything about on FOX Noise anymore because they don't want to be tarred with his stink. He's a Christian and he used violence to achieve his desired political ends, and that's the classic definition of terrorism. Oh yeah, he also explicitly said he wanted to kill all the people in Bernie Goldber's book 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. And his house was full of books by people who work for FOX News.

They also gloss over this guy:
He's the Christian who shot up the Holocaust Museum, which he chose as a target because he hated Jews. And they love to forget to mention, when they mention him at all, that he's a former white supremacist, which is a far right wing political movement, of which the Tea party crowd are a part and so are Libertarians.

Here's another Christian terrorist:
He's latest killer of doctors who perform abortions, which is still a legal medical procedure in this country by the way. They tie themselves in logic knots when trying to prove that this animal isn't a terrorist. But since this Christian man used violence to achieve his desired political end, he's a terrorist. He's a Christian and he's a terrorist. And to the anti abortion crowd, he's a hero.

And finally we end this parade of infamy with the American Christian terrorist who killed the most people in one fell swoop ever on US soil:
The late Tim McVeigh. He was in the US Army and he was a Christian. He killed to achieve his desired political end and he was caught, tried, convicted, and murdered for his crime. But they never talk about him when they talk about terrorists.

The point here is that if you're going to bitch that people aren't calling the Fort Hood shooter a terrorist because they are being politically correct and you're not calling those Christians who committed terrorist acts terrorists, then you're intellectually cowardly and you're hypocrites. And the argument that only good things come from the Christian god doesn't apply, because if you believe that the Christian god created everything then he created everything, including terrorists of all kinds, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc. The other point is, and this is the one that most people, and by most people I mean the right wingers, is that religious extremism of any stripe is bad, be it Muslim, Christian, Jewish, etc.

If this tragedy shows us anything, it shows us that we need to get the hell out of the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan and that we need less religion in our world.
