It's an honor

Once again I am being honored with glittering prizes and awards. This of course should come as no shock to my loyal readers because they recognized my genius right away. Unfortunately for the rest of mankind it's taken them a bit longer to discover the brilliance of me.

In the past few days I have been awarded the following prizes and awards:

The Nobel Prize for blogging. (Suck on that Michelle Malkin!)
A slice of the prized Pie of Discontentment. (Eat that Bill O'Reilly, oh wait you can't because it's mine!)
A Green "Good Job" Ribbon just for taking a 1974 Impala on a test drive at a local used car lot. (Top that you NASCAR geeks!)

A set of Hitler stamps. (I threw them away.)

The Man Booker Prize for my novel Trouble De Ville. (And I'm not even British!)

The Chartreuse Ribbon of Idiocy and Banality.

While those prizes were nice, these are the two I am most proud of:

The lovely and talented Becca , who's blog is one of the blogs that inspired me to start this blog by the way, and the young but getting smarter every day since he is recognizing my genius JD both have seen fit to give me this award:

I consider this, all jokes aside, a high honor. To be recognized by someone like Becca who I so admire is really gratifying. And to be honored by someone so much younger than me is an incredibly nice thing as well, I have long harbored the dark desire to corrupt young minds and it looks like I am succeeding.

In accepting this great honor from these two fine human beings I must display the rules about the honor and I will do so now:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.

2. Link to this post so that people can find the exact origin of the meme.

3. Optional: Proudly display the Thinking Blogger Award on your site with a link to the post that you wrote.

So now I get pick ten bloggers, since I got the award twice I get ten, so there, nah nah nah, to give this honor to and I choose the following people:

1) Boxer Rebellion-He's a newbie but he's a goodie.

2) Katie Schwartz-She's not been posting much lately but when she does she makes me howl with laughter most of the time. If you ever need a quick laugh go through her archives, mmm, how dirty does that sound? "Hey Katie, you sit still and I'll go through your archives baby. Trust me you'll love it!"

3) Amy Guth-She's Katies BFF, a novelist, a literary hostess with the mostess, and an all around pretty darn cute gal.

4) Death Wore a Feathered Mullet-Funny, smart, funny as hell, intelligent, and did I mention how funny this guy is? Go, read, and enjoy.

5) Cap'n Dyke-Oh Cap'n my Cap'n, how much do I love your blog? Some would say too much, but then those people would be wrong. Sail on Cap'n and I eagerly await every new installment of your adventures.

6) Jess Wundrun-Another new blogger. She's a gal after my own heart though because she blogs so much and it's all drenched in cheesy Wisconsin goodness.

7)Liberality-I love her takes on politics, life, and most everything in general. What with her and Evil Spock, I think Indiana may be producing some of the best bloggers in the land.

8)Pam the working mom who muses-I think she and I may have been related in a past life. Her sense of outrage over this mess the Chickenhawk in Chief has gotten us into rivals mine. And if the her political writings weren't enough to keep you going back day after day, now she's posting pictures of her off the scale cute kids now.

9) Pissed off Patricia-Oh how I love a gal who titles her blog "Morning Martini." She has great takes on most everything and it seems like everyone in the world reads and comments on her blog.

10) Kelsi-This won't take a while to say that she's funny, smart, and quite the good read even with her ee cummings style of not using any capital letters if she can help it. She's also prone to posting pictures of her cute as a button neice on her blog too. Thank good ness Kelsi is off the wall but not quite on on the floor either.

I could have given the award to bloggers like Evil Spock, who I love, Dr. Zaius, and to D Cup, who I love and adore, but they've won it before but I think they know how much I appreciate their blogs.

The other award I got recently is this:
Splotchy tossed this back in my face after I gave him the award. Thanks Splotchy, I am honored you like my comments on your blog, and just so you know, that story about your daughter's wet fart killed me. She's a kid after my own heart.

Now I get to turn around and award the following people this schmooze award for their comments on my blog:

1. Bubs-You rock, your comments rock, and your blog rocks harder than granite.

2. Fran-Oy what comments she gives. Thanks for spending so much time here Fran.

3. Not Soccer Mom-While her comments may be spare at times on here, I forgive her because she's got a young son to look after.

4. Greensunflower-My new BFF out in Cali. She is sweeter than sugar, most of the time, in her comments here.

5. PJ-Hands down my favorite Brit. Her comments always make me smile or laugh.

Thanks to all of you who honored me. And to all of you who read me, you honor me every time you read one of my posts.

Who's honoring us now?

Why it's none other than our old pal and fellow simian blogger Dr. Zaius. Give it up for Dr. Zaius everybody!

The good doctor has chosen us here at Monkey Muck as one of his five blogs that make him think and so we get to put this nifty picture on our blog now:

Seriously, thanks from the bottom of our hearts Doc. We feel doubly honored because it was you who awarded it to us.

You see boys and girls Dr. Zaius was one of the two bloggers who inspired us to start our little blog. We followed a link one day on Crooks and Liars and it led us to a post that chronicled the Jesus Convention. Quite frankly the piece blew us away, it was funny, well written, and so insightful that it made our teeth hurt. After reading that masterpiece we started clicking some of the links on his blog roll and we found a fantastic little blog called No Smoking in the Skull Cave, written by a human woman named Becca. These two blogs taught us some things, Becca's blog taught us that pop culture ephemera is worth celebrating and even basking in and Dr. Zaius's blog taught us that political opinion and commentary can be elevated to a work of art, and that Nancy Pelosi is not only third in line to be President, she is also hot, hot, hot.

And so we jumped in the blogosphere after seeing that blogging, especially blogging that is done by smart, funny, and aware apes and humans, can be done well.

So we arrive back to today and the news that Dr. Zaius has seen fit to award us one of his Thinking Blogger awards. When one is honored with one of these babies one must then do three things:

  1. Pass the award along to five other bloggers whose blogs make you think.
  2. Link to this page, the original post about the origins of the award.
  3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

Having done the last two, we now take extreme pleasure in bestowing this honor on five other blogs. And they are:

  • The Self Help Center. Written by Romius T, who also blogs at The Needs Of The Few, this blog covers the banal and ordinary on any given day. Romius's posts on The Self Help Center are like haunting prose poems of the damned or they are a dry joke inflicted on a world that has no sense of humor.
  • The Largest Minority. Written by Manila Ryce and his gang of ne'er do wells, this blog has it all, great political commentary and opinion, video posts that are at times funny and at other times enraging, and the Daily Connect. Miss it at your peril.
  • Sorghum Crow's General Store. This is one of the funniest blogs out there, it's just pictures with the wittiest captions ever thought up by a human male. It proves the old adage that less is more.
  • Ice Station Tango. We found this great blog about politics and other related stuff only a few days ago but we're already hooked. It has a great little biting attitude and the folks over there crank out daily posts with almost the same frequency as we do. It's cold, it's hot, it's a must read.
  • Princess Sparkle Pony. No one has as much sass, smarts, or wit as the Princess. No one can turn a phrase or cut through the crap like her. As Blue Gal once said in a comment on this blog, "We all aspire to be like the Princess." We know that when we visit her she'll make us laugh and the first thing that we think after reading her posts is, "Holy shit, why can't we be that funny?"

Once again Doc, thanks for the honor and for all the great photoshop pictures you made for us. And as we can all see from the picture above, you rock.
