You probably heard it here first

Since it wasn't an American who won the Nobel Peace Prize most media in the USA have ignored the man who actually did win it, a diplomat from Finland. His name is Martti Ahtisaari and he's spent his whole professional life working to bring peace to the world. Sure, he's also been in a sauna or two in his day as well and he looks like a villain from the 1960's Batman TV show, but come on, the dude is deserving of the prize.

Congratulations Mr. Martti Ahtisaari for a job well done. And for being a great Finn.

WWUKD?

What would Urho Kekkonen do?

My guess is he'd take a sauna after he finished skiing.

We've got work to do

After we finally get out of that quagmire in Iraq and Afghanistan, after we finally get universal not for profit single payer health care for all, after we finally put some regulations on the corporations that are running amok now, after we finally start to deal with the adverse effects of climate change, after we finally get some sane laws governing the sale of hand guns in this country, then maybe we can tackle the real problem facing the world today, feral Finnish children.

Make no mistake people, they're going to start breeding soon and then they'll be everywhere. Today it's Helsinki and the Lake District, tomorrow it's Moose Jaw and Portland. We've got to act now before it's too late. You've been warned.

Something special for my 888th post

It's a tribute my friend Allan!
This drawing of a naked faceless woman holding a fish is from a calender he made for me years ago.

This new magazine has got the best name don't you think? WTF, of course they want us to think it means Welcome to Finland but we all know what it really means. My pal Allan's family is originally from Finland.

*************
If you're in the Davis California area or you find yourself in Attorney General Jerry Brown's library, give Allan a friendly wave and a hearty hello. And tell him I said "Hi!"
