It's Adopt an Actor Day!

Happy Adopt an Actor day everybody! For those of you who do not know, Adopt an Actor was started by Splotchy on his blog and it soon spread like wildfire to other blogs. It's a way to celebrate the work of some great actors and, in my case, it's another reason to post pictures of pretty women.

I'm going to use today's holiday to adopt another actor. And since I have one each from Britain, Ireland, and Scotland, it's time to jump across the pond and adopt an actor from our neighbor to the north, Canada. I had a tough time deciding between Leslie Nielsen, Molly Parker, and Sarah Polley. But in the end I chose...
actor, writer, and filmmaker Sarah Polley! I chose Ms. Polley because I've been a long time fan of her work. She's been in some of my favorite films, The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen (which I'm due to watch again soon because it's been over a year since I last saw it), Go, eXistenZ, Dawn of the Dead, and The Claim. She was also in the recent HBO mini series about John Adams, the scene where she gets her cancerous breast removed is gut and heart wrenching. She's not only a damn fine actor, she's also a very well regarded screenwriter and recently she's added directorto her long list of show biz accomplishments. And she recently got to meet my blog buddy K-Line.
Please welcome Miss Sarah Polley to my stable of adopted actors and be sure to catch one of her films or TV shows real soon!

Congratulations, Monkey! You're such a family monkey.

And I'm so happy about the holiday! I think I'll consider adopting another as well!

I like Sarah Polley, too. She did an excellent job with Away from Her.

But Beowulf and Grendel was terrible. Not necessarily because of her, but it was just overall a terrible movie.

I hope you can support all of these actors you keep adopting.

Also, I notice you keep adopting attractive females. Care to comment?

Congrats! I have added her to the adoption roster!

She looks just like that! :-)

I keep adopting attractive females? Really Ubie? I hadn't noticed. I just notice their talent, that's all. I swear. :0)

Polley is a little Uma-esque.

She was in Munchausen? Don't you dare tell me that she was little Sally! Damn, I'm old.

I'm not sure the adoption agencies would trust you on this.

Kirby-She was indeed little Sally.

She's lovely. You have impeccable. Well done.

Now where can I get Ian McShane? Or That lovely Brit, Anthony Hopkins? Do I have to visit Splotchy? I always get a virus there.

Adopt away Utah and then tell Splotchy about it.

OMG Dr. M...this is soooo weird. I was just thinking of Sarah Polley and wondering what she was up to. I must have picked up on your thought waves as your were writing.

Did you see the movie Guinevere? About a man who takes young women as his lover and coaches them to develop their art. Sad little man, good film.

Sweet Hereafter was depressing but I loved the remake of the zombie pic.

Well chosen! You cannot go wrong with Sarah! She is pretty much awesome in everything she does.

What have you got against Wales?

An excellent choice, Mr. M. This is a great idea. I had no idea it came from Splotchy, but I should have known!
