Community organizers

The rich white people's party sure had fun the other night deriding community organizers. They laughed and laughed at someone who would rather serve the greater good than take a job in corporate America. They, especially Rudy "9/11!" Ghouliani and Sarah "Caribou Barbie" Palin, sneered at community organizing and they made it clear how much contempt they have for anyone who does such a job.

I'm sure they hate the following community organizers as well:
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.,

Sojourner Truth,

Harriet Tubman,

Elizabeth Cady Stanton,

John Brown,
and finally,

Jesus H. Christ.

Imagine what the world would be like now if those people hadn't been community organizers.

Jesus looks like a total stoner in that picture.

Guliani scared the shit out of me with his speech and I found both his and Palin's attacks on Obama childish and petty. You didn't see the dems making these kinds of attacks on the republicans. It was sad.

Remember how the GOP relentlessly made fun of Kerry's three Purple Hearts?
But somehow McCain's POW status is sacrosanct. What bullshit.
And the GOP should fall to their knees and thank community organizers because they exemplify the GOP's desire to have individuals do the social work they don't want to fund.

Silly monkey, Jesus H. Christ was a powerful lobbyist for Exxon and had played QB for Ole Miss, right? Right?

As for the rest of them, uppity liberals, all of them.

Jesus wasn't a stoner??

I made a game about Elizabeth Cady Stanton once for class. I suppose the GOP is not interested in playing it with me. :(

Go Monkey! Awesome post. Palin especially said "community organizer" the same way you might have said "meth addicted carnie".

Pure bloggy gold, Monkey.

Demonizing community organizers is going to be their new mantra. YupYup Palin just repeated it in a rally today. Community organizers are responsible for little things like the American Revolution, Boston Tea Party, stuff like that too.

It should be noted that Jesus Christ was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Gasp! You can't say that about Republicans! I mean really, just look at John McCain's vote when it came to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! He -- er... um... he spent more than five years in the "Hanoi Hilton!" That's what!

I don't want to imagine it!

Remember -- As fictional cop Sam Vimes says, a lie will be halfway around the world before the truth has its boots on. We need to be very loud about the outrageousness of the put downs. I guess Caribou Barbie can no longer tout her PTO experience: too much like community organizing.

Notre Dame. They even have a statue of him in the stadium after he led them to four perfect seasons and graduated with a 4.0

I always wanted to know what the H stood for. Howard? Henry? Halliburton?

Yes, those remarks were off base and so irritating that I had to turn it off. Excellent sleuth work in finding images that redeem the phrase. I think we should all wear buttons that say "I am a community organizer."

Truer, wiser words have not been spoken.

I think Jesus H. Christ would turn over in his grave if he saw the "community/corporation" that resulted.
