Two great cultural icons together... one a man of the people, singing songs for the workers, the outcasts, the dispossessed - the other a refuse dwelling curmudgeon , unwilling to buy into the dominant paradigm or embrace social conventions.
There could have been a fantastic "Easy Rider" type road movie for these two, journeying into the dark heart of the American psyche with guitar and garbage can in tow.
That was truly weird, but pretty good. I love Johnny Cash. I like this "nasty" ballad better than the posthumously-released song about God cutting me down. This one has a sense of humor.
We have a Johnny Cash themed club here called the Mean-Eyed Cat. They've got great T-shirts and bumper stickers that just say MEAN on them. http://themeaneyedcat.com/

Good Morning, Monkey dear! JC looks pretty good there.
I love Johnny Cash
Oscar was a real fan, you can practically see him drooling.
Oh man, do I miss Johnny Cash. And June Carter, for that matter.
That reminds me-- I've got to check Netflix. DVD highlights of Johnny Cash' late sixties/early seventies show have been released.
