I got tagged by Micgar to do a meme about how my blog evolved to what it has become today so since I just read Chris's response to Micgar's tag, I felt guilty about not doing mine so here we go:
I started this blog after reading Dr. Zaius's Jesus Convention post way back in late March. I had heard about blogs before and their impact but I seriously thought they were a waste of time and I believed the corporate media lie that all bloggers were maladjusted freaks who lived in their parents basements and who were on the brink of becoming serial killers. Dr. Zaius piece showed me that bloggers could be smart, funny, clever, political, and worth reading every day.
So a few weeks later I started this blog.
I started out doing mainly political and anti war posts because at that time we had just hooked up with our soon to be good friend Sandra and her organization Concerned TN Citizens. But as time went on and I read more and more blogs I decided to make my blog more like me. That is to say I wanted it to reflect on the total person/monkey that I am. So I started doing more and more humorous pieces, some posts about my life history, movie and book reviews, picture posts with one liners, and then cooking posts. It's become a pretty accurate reflection of who I am today.
Like most of you I started out with 10 or 12 readers but through hard work, choice blogrolling, word of mouth, and a few links on Crooks and Liars I've grown to an average of 175 or so a day.
As you can tell by the number of posts I do that I enjoy blogging and I plan on keeping it up for the foreseeable future or until I piss off someone in the government and they haul my ass off to Gitmo or to Kansas or god forbid, the capital of pretentiousness, Seattle, Washington.
And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I love the monkey you've blossomed into.
And yeah, they're totally hauling your monkey ass off to Gitmo someday, but until then...
more crunky please!
"I believed the corporate media lie that all bloggers were maladjusted freaks who lived in their parents basements and who were on the brink of becoming serial killers."
Damn.
Oh, and the thought of my blog being a "pretty accurate picture of who I am today" terrifies me.
(Shudder.)
2 of the blogs out there that were most influential in making me want to start blogging
Dr. Zauis's and Dr. Monkey von Monkerstein
Funny that they would both be simian doctors, what a coincidence.
I do so love these glimpses into the monkey behind the monkey!
My first blog started as a reaction to the first murmurings of "impeach Bush" way back in 2005. But politics got so damned depressing (and my birding got more serious) that I started my birding blog just so I could help myself to focus on more beautiful things, rather than the ugliness this country has become. Reading your blog and FranIAm's and Jess's etc etc has made me go back to my old political blog, but I only post once in a while. Other political blogs do it so much better than I do. And birding is fun.
Viva los chongos! Long live the monkeys!
I think of this every time I see Dr. Zaius's name.
I really enjoy reading your blog every day! Your blog fits the criteria you site: funny, clever, political and worth reading every day!
Thanks!
You are the finest monkey blogger out there.
Oh the humanity! I'm right on board with Ubermilf and can only ever think of that too! Poor Falco. He's dayd.
And I will loiter here more now that I have you under my spell.
Oh Dr! I love what you do here, you were one of my first stops, although I have no clue how I found you. And you were one of my early supporters.
If you go to Gitmo I probably do too. See you there man.
Whiskey-What do you know that I don't? When am I going?
Coaster-Don't be scared.
Devilham-You make me blush.
Dguzman-Thanks for enjoying the peeks into my monkey life. I enjoy writing about it.
Kirby-Long live you my dear.
UberMILF-That's one of my fave Simpson's episodes.
Micgar-Thanks.
Barb-And you're the best Zombie in the blogosphere my dear.
Tanya-You evil bewitching thing you. :)
Fran-You found me in a cereal box.
oops I meant CITE-oh well !
You know, I'm finally catching up on your posts. This was cool reading.
I keep thinking of that Venn diagram of blogs and how we found the ones we read, who linked first, etc. I know I've found people through yours and it's been great fun with all the overlap.
Keep up the mad posting.
