Don't Call Us, We'll Call You

Before Punk rock and New Wave music hit me a ton of bricks in the late 70's, I thought this was the coolest song ever:

And after listening to it again after 30 years or so, it still sounds pretty darn good. It holds up a hell of a lot better than this song.

You made me listen to Uriah Heep and I shall never forgive you.

Dude. Loved that Sugarloaf.

On another note, my dog is named after a Dickens' character, so I can't totally hate on Uriah Heep-if only for the literary name.

The song sucks dong though.

(My dog's name is Mr. Fezziwig, if you were wondering.)

UberMILF-I often make women listen to bad things.

Snad-I liked it too, until I heard better music.

Jess-Love the dog's name, hate the song.

I know a mountain named Sugarloaf and that song was pretty damned cool. I support you in your effort to decry The Heep.

Look, you can pull out one good Sugarloaf song, and one bad Uriah Heep song, but that don't mean that Sugarloaf is good and Uriah Heep is bad.

Hater.

That song is about their inability to get a record deal after having a monster hit, "Green-Eyed Lady." I consider it to be a great victory, that their next (and last) hit was a big fuck-you to the industry.

I love "Stealin'." No excuses. I was an adolescent in the '70's.

One of my best friends in high school had this on eight track. And of course, in true eight-track fashion, it switched tracks in the middle of my favorite song.
