A new work

The Anxious Cat. 

(Acrylic and marker on 30x38" canvas)

This work is all one line. I started with my marker on the canvas and filled in the spaces with paint.

 

Triumph

 My first solo art shw was a smashing sucess. I priced my work so that working folks could afford it and I ended up selling a lot of work. This piece went to a good friend's home. And this show has other dealers in the area interested in giving me shows in 2024.

I'll be giving most of my money from it to non religious charities and using it to buy art supplies for the elementary school down the street from us.

I'm over the moon.

So long Frank

Illustrator extraordinaire Frank Frazetta passed away yesterday. I've loved his art since the first time I saw it. And since I'm a sci fi and comic book nerd, I've seen quite a lot of it. This piece of his pretty much sums up everything I love about the man's work:
What's not to love? Rocket ships, space men, crash landing, outer space, and a hot alien babe with wings. Boom. I'm all in.

Rest in peace Frank. And thanks for all the great images you gave us all those years.

A feast for the eyes

I love the blog called things magazine. It's a blog that has links to a lot of other blogs that feature kick ass eye popping pictures. Through it I found this blog which featured all these great pieces of modern art and graphic design:

Farewell Andrew Wyeth

American artist Andrew Wyeth has passed away at age 91. His most famous painting is the iconic Christina's World but my favorites of his are his Helga series of paintings.The women I used to see on TV and in magazines always looked too pretty and perfect, they did not look normal. The woman Wyeth painted in his Helga series looked not only real she looked like women I knew. I love the way he played with light and shadow on her body and her face in this series. Wyeth was the son of an artist and his son also became an artist. He will be missed but we've got his huge body of work to appreciate forever.
