Normal blogging will resume shortly
While out and about yesterday, I bought a cigar box full of vintage photos from the 1940's through the early 1970's. Turns out there were over 175 pictures in that box and I just finished scanning them all. I'll get back to 'regular' blogging soon.

Found photo bonanza

These photos are from two contact sheets I bought today at a local antique store for two bucks each. I estimate that the pictures were shot in the mid to late 1950's. I'm also pretty sure that both these sheets, as well as the others that I didn't buy but hope to one day, are all from the same family/estate. These two that I bought today are full of photos of this family's home, their maid, their pets, and a trip to the race track. I love these so much it hurts.I'll post the rest of these on my scan blog.

Found photos that go together
I can easily imagine this early 1970's just married couple
spending their honeymoon in this motel:
The motel is the Continental Motel and Lobster House Restaurant in Williamsburg, VA. It featured 41 air conditioned rooms, wall to wall carpeting, a TV in every room, private tiled baths, steam heat, and free coffee. It's just the sort of slice of vacation paradise that our chubby newlywed couple from Wisconsin might have enjoyed.
(The top photo comes from a packet of 20 photos I bought for a buck in an antique store in NC and the motel postcard was fifty cents from the same store.)

Mini score!
I'm moving in a little over a week and yet I'm still buying vintage photos and magazines from antique stores. I bought a couple of issues of True magazine from the early 70's and I also bought a half dozen vintage photos all for two bucks today at an antique store in Greeneville, TN.
Here's one of the photos I bought:
