Media breakdown

I bought this vintage magazine yesterday for a little over a buck fifty.  It's lurid and the cover would lead one to think it was anti gay or something but actually the opposite is true.  After going through it and scanning the best bits out of it, I'm convinced it was edited by a gay dude who wanted to help other gay people out there in repressed 1965 America.  Yes, it has provocatively titled and poorly written articles about what we now call alternative lifestyles, but these stories function to let other gay people know that there are others like them out there in the world.  This magazine is full of ads about female impersonators, 'deviant' sex practices, lesbian housewives, and for lonely hearts.  It pretends to be one thing when in fact it's a whole other animal.
