Regulation and taxes have nothing to do with the economic mess we're in

Americans are out of work.

Because companies aren't hiring.

Companies aren't hiring because there's no demand for their products or services.

There's no demand because Americans are out of work and can't afford anything.

I can't make it much simpler than that for you people.

But maybe if we just give them just one more tax break, then they'd be sure to start hiring people they don't need out tof the goodness of their hearts!

I heard the other night on Marketplace where they interviewed some business guy and he said something to the effect of, 'I don't know why they think a little tax break is going to make us hire extra people. No one is going to hire extra people. It costs too much.' So what's the solution? Obviously, throwing money at the businesses won't work.

It seems to me that if we started up some new industries like green technology, etc., instead of just relying on what's always worked, we might get some movement here.

What will work, and we know it will work because it was done in the past, is for corporations to invest in their employees and the communities in which they do business instead of investing in Wall Street.

Do we see the violence inherent in the system yet?
