Just wondering

After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans intolerant Christian hate monger John Hagee said that his god punished that city because it had a level of sin that was unacceptable to it. So if all natural disasters come from his god, I wonder if he'll claim that Haiti had an unacceptable degree of poverty and or voodoo and that's why his god had to destroy all those buildings and kill all those people.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the folks in Haiti would appreciate cash, clothes, food, medicine, pillows, blankets, and a less oppressive corporate presence in their country more than they would your thoughts and prayers.

Yes, I would say all these things are true. I was distressed, reading the BBC report about the earthquake this morning, to see that the first half of the article was taken up with listing all the NON-Haitians who were missing or killed.

That was all that our news was about...who was missing from MN - or not missing and safe. Then some gas bag came on about how "...nothing bad should happen to our people."

I wonder who will take money and actually GET IT to the Hatians?

On NPR this morning, the commentator said "even the US Embassy suffered damamge".
Really? EVEN the US Embassy building??
I hate it when they say "there were 100's dead including 2 Americans" like that makes the suffering even worse. Like the only lives we'd care to hear about are our fellow white people.
We're so jingoistic.

Apparently the 666+44 Club's Pat Robertson beat Hagee to it.

Just so, so sad in so many ways. And people like those you mention will indeed use something this horrible to wave in the face of their already-brainwashed followers, saying "See??? I told you!"

When I go back to Nebraska to visit my mom, I used to go to church with her just to make her happy. But the last time I went was after Katrina and the minister started spewing the same sort of crap about sinners. I got up and walked out of the church and I promptly told my mom that I will never go to church with her again. I asked my mom that since I don't believe in God, "do you think I am going to hell too?" (which is what the minister had been saying). She said, "Oh no, honey, not you."

If you have some cash, go to Doctors without Borders. They are there now--were there before the earthquake hit--and they are going to need the money.
