Restablishing my geek cred

Here's some of my favorite comic book artists of all time:
Jim Steranko

Joe Kubert

Steve Ditko

Walt Simonson

Jack Kirby

John Severin

George Perez

Bill Sienkiewicz

I haven't kept up with the comic book world in years and I know there are many new terrific artists out there who I am not familiar with but those listed above will always be among my favorites.

[Shrek] I've always been a Kirby and Ditko fan...and Bill Sienkiewicz is very under rated.

What do you call a 6'6" fighting frog?

Ridiculous.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

THE THUNDER FROG!!!!! Love this character and I totally agree with all your choices. You just can't beat a Kirby drawn comic and I wish Steranko had done more comic book stuff.

I'm keen on Barry Windsor-Smith, especially the last work he did on Conan, and John Byrne, who has a lot of very tall female characters and may be one of My People.

Doctor,
This is a fun post. I don't usually like guy comic books, but now that I'm working hard on my own illustrations, I have come to appreciate the techniques of illustration, framing, and storytelling.

I hope you saw last week's New Yorker. They published a chapter from Robert Crumb's latest work: the Book of Genesis. It's fabulous.
