I don't ask for much...

...but if anyone on the Obama transition team is reading my blog, them please, please, pretty please could you guys make Patrick Fitzgerald the head of the FBI or something. He's tough but fair and he follows the rule of law, which after 8 years of the lawless Bush/Cheney administration would be a novel, yet good, thing.

Obama is in a tough spot with Fitzgerald. Chicago politics being what it is, a promotion of Fitzgerald to a Washington job will be seen by many here as a gift to the Illinois machine, getting rid of a pesky US Attorney to reward Obama's machine pals.

Personally, I'd like to see Fitzgerald stay here another 8 years. Indicting a public official a week for 8 years MIGHT begin to put a dent in our public corruption. Might.

A public figure with morals, and who follows the rule of law? What planet do you live on?

Well, like the musical says you gotta have a dream, or how you gonna have a dream come true?

While I think it's great you like Patrick Fitzgerald so much and want to see him get the recognition he deserves, he must not be taken away from the citizens of Illinois. He's all we've got looking out for us. He strikes the fear of God in most politicians - just not Blagojevich. We need Fitzgerald.

A noble request, but it'll never fit on a bumper sticker.
