I caught the 6 part 'epic' Genesis of the Daleks on one of those On Demand channels on my local cable system recently and I can honestly say that it pretty much stank. The acting was atrocious, the story arc was lame, and it looked like they made it on a budget of about a buck fifty.
But there was one bright spot in it and her name is Elisabeth Sladen.Ms. Sladen was the ever so cute and plucky Sarah Jane, the Doctor's female companion.
She outshone the Doctor in every scene she was in with him. And she got to wear groovy outfits like this:Thanks goodness the BBC had enough sense to bring her back with her own show, The Sarah Jane Adventures. As you can see from this picture, Ms. Sladen is still gettin' it done. She's aged like a fine wine, unlike Tom Baker, who when not doing voice over work for Little Britain is working as a dishwasher in Uncle Ravi's House O' Curry in Upchuck on Avon.

My god, did I have a crush on her. Good call, Dr.
Wow I'm clueless on every part of this post. Yeah, I know, I need to get out more.
I'm thinking you're not so much for the campiness, or watching dreadful things for the sheer dreadfulness of them.
See, Dilf is like you, and doesn't understand how I can watch deliciously awful things.
But I like the old Dr. Who because it is everything you said.
And I liked Sarah Jane a lot more than Leela the cavewoman tramp, who was supposed to be sexy.
Ubie-Don't be so quick to pigeon hole me. I love cheesy campy stuff, I just didn't like Tom Baker as Dr. Who. And I didn't like this series of episodes.
Jelly babies and sonic screwdrivers, baby!
Dr. Who pretty much stinks, except for the cheesy special effects and the occasional beautiful ingénue.
For your appreciation of Liz Sladen = kudos on your fine taste and discernment.
For your dislike of Dr Who and Tom Baker's Doctor = Boo and Hiss sir for your lack of taste and discernment!
And since we know from the regular slate of political postings by supporters of Senators Clinton and Obama - you can only hate or love someone with no nuance allowed.
I'm left with a dilemma, so please adjust your opinions to adhere strictly to mine to resolve this problem. ;-)
