It's over. Finally. After 16 months and after the corporate media had held a coronation for Hillary back last year when she first announced. Obama is the last one standing and it's been a long and bruising fight and many people on both sides are still pissed.
And that's okay if you still are. Really, it is. Go on, vent. Wail. Gnash your teeth. And then when you're done, come on home and let's elect a Democrat in November. Because if we don't then we are sending millions of people to their deaths, in Iraq and Afghanistan, and here at home too. Bush McCain will keep the failed policies of Bush the Idiot going and he will do nothing about the climate crisis, the growing gap between the rich and the poor, and the corporate take over of our airwaves, our food supply, and our lives. I'm sure that's not what some embittered Clinton supporters really want. I'm sure that these embittered people don't want more judges on the Supreme Court like Scalia, Alito, Thomas, and Roberts. But, I could be wrong and maybe people like this and the person who I quoted in this post, who by the way some of you know because she used to blog under the name The Divine Democrat, are willing to make all of us suffer just so they can cluck their forked tongues if by some miracle that McCain wins and they can say, "See what happens if we don't get our way? We'll make the rest of you, and generations of future people as well, suffer just because we did not get our way."
Hillary's campaign manager Ed Rendell said something a few months back that sounded very sensible to me. He said that we Democrats have two fine candidates, either of which will stack up against the Republican hate machine just fine. He said that no matter who wins, Hillary or Barack, that the people who backed the losing candidate should take 10 days and grieve and bitch and moan and then after that 10 days was up they need to support the nominee. I could not agree more with Ed. And if my candidate had lost and Hillary was standing here today as the presumptive nominee, then I would have sucked it up and supported her. Because there is no way in hell I want this to continue:
So to the millions of men and women who supported Hillary I say take a few more days and grieve and then by the end of the week or the end of the month let all get together and put a Democrat in the White House. Some of you are there already, like my good blog friends Delia Guzman and CDP, I hope the rest of you join us all in the big tent pretty soon.

Dr. Monkey - uniting America since June 7th!
Seriously - it is time, let's go.
GREAT post my man.
I did not have a banner for either one, but now I do and happily so.
I'm just glad it's (well, this leg, at least) over! Gawd, I don't know how you can stand this ridiculously long election process.
Amen, Dr. Monkey!
I got over losing John Edwards, and they can get over Hillary Clinton. The ultimate goal is a Dem administration, let us never forget that!!!
Absolutely, think of the big picture. You guys are all on the same team.
Didn't like either, but the alternative is far far worse. Right on, Dr. M!
