That's a beautiful iris. We've got tulips and honeysuckle sprouting in the new-to-us beds out front. I'll be posting about them soon.

Yay spring!

Perhaps your state flower should be stinkweed! ;o)

My favorite flower!

I came home from work tonight about 45 minutes ago and discovered, improably, flowers sprouting at the front of our home. We've had nearly zero warm weather this spring (all two weeks of it) and it was not only cold and raining, but actually snowed tonight here in Chicago. These flowers must have really wanted to bloom.

That should have read "improbably."

I love how flowers have an internal clock. I think they are much more attuned to the angle of the sun than the temperature.

My irises are about 1/2 inch high right now, but I expect to see forsythia blooming within the week. Yay!

Right now, we have a "Corpse Flower" blooming here in St. Paul. Allegedly it only blooms when it feels like it, and the odor is reminiscent of rotting flesh.

Top that, iris!

Assuming no one has already taken it, I have a flower post planned later today.
