I bought 20 old postcards for $2 today at an antique store. Most of them sent were to people in Iowa. I'll be posting more later here and on Monkey Scan and I'll probably put the whole set of them on Flickr later. When that happens it will truly be, as Ken says in his postcard to the Kurses, "Finally really fine day."

Oh my god I love old postcards. Even better if they're blank. I recently sent out some really old (think 1910-20) photo postcards out to various people.
I felt kind of guilty writing on them, but I figured that was their intended purpose and I was just fulfilling the postcard prophecy set forth by our forefathers in days of yore.
Postcard love here too. I buy books of them to dash off quick notes. I love email, but nothing beats an actual something personal in the snail mail. I have a large Ludite vein in me.
I can say from personal experience, people in Iowa LOVE to get postcards.

On our wall we have a postcard that looks almost exactly like this one, of a very similar design. My favorite movie theater in Minneapolis, the Cooper/Cameo.
They tore it down. But it even had go-go dancer cages. It was cool.

I'm a big fan of old postcards with writing on them. I love the postmarks and the vague addresses. There was a way of writing in the olden days that tells so much in so few words. You're good.
Yes, that fancy way of writing and is just not seen enough these days and may just die out with the use of the internet and those infernal e-cards.
I lived in Omaha in 1975. I think my grandmother penned that card for Ken.
Oh man. I wish movie theaters still looked like that. The beautiful thing, too, is that for a while there were a lot of churches built that looked like this too
Whiskey-I love the ones with the writign on them. I love being a part of someone's life and vacation for a moment or two as I read what they wrote.
mnmom-I was a card carrying Luddite for years. Until I bought a computer that is.
Kim-Any place with go go dancer cages is cool with me.
Crayons-I love the ones with the cheesy photos of tourist attractions too.

Bubs-They are still churches that look like that around here.
