Over the hill and through the woods...

...to the lovely city of Asheville we go to today! Sparky will be heading out soon to make our monthly trip to the progressive oasis across the mountain. We've got a full day planned for over there so there won't be much blogging here today I'm afraid.

What's that? What do we have planned? I'm glad you asked! Here's some of what we'll be doing:
We'll be parking in one of the lovely urine scented downtown parking garages and then we'll walking around and shopping in the downtown area. We'll be hitting all the little funky shops, especially 10,000 Thousand Villages and other stores like it. We'll also be hitting a used bookstore or two so I can search for vintage kid's picture books and or cheesy cheap pulp paperbacks.

One thing we won't be doing however is stopping at the downtown Salvation Army Thrift store.

And that's because those Christian bastards up and moved out and they haven't told me where they moved to. The downtown store was where I bought We Live In East Germany, the scan of which got me on Boing Boing, the bowling pin I have in my home office here at el Casa de Monkey, and numerous vintage album covers that ooze cheesy goodness. One of these days I'll find out where you Jesus lovers ran off to and then I exact my revenge!

On a happier note, we'll also gander at the latest fashions in Asheville.

We'll also mix, but not mingle, with the locals.

And we'll enjoy whatever the street performers are up to today!
********
We'll also squeeze in a late lunch or supper out and we'll fit in a visit to one of the two mainly organic grocery stores in town, Greenlife Grocery. (Sorry Earthfare, you guys can suck it. I'm tired of your cashiers giving me the stink eye because they think I look like a Republican with my short hair and glasses.)
********
We always have fun over in Asheville and yes, I'll be taking my trusty HP digital camera so expect photos later! Have swell day boys and girls and if you promise to be good while I'm gone, I just may pick you up something while I'm out, for all our sakes I hope it's not an STD.

Yay! Can't wait to see the documented visit. Lexington Ave has some nice indie shops if you're close by. Toodles

With all that parking, and Jesus thrift store searching and whatnot, I would hope that you will not have time to bring back any STDs. That's too much multi-tasking.

I'm jealous that you are having a 3-D life today. Not me, not today. Blogging, I mean work.

How fun for you Monkey and Sparky!

Thanks for everything including not giving me an STD. I really appreciate that as does Mr. He Is!

Have fun!

If you do pick up an STD, Huckabee will launch you into the sun.

I am so jealous, I have not been to Asheville in probably about a year. I really need to get back there, it is such a cool little town.

Don't fret, Dr. Monkey. Tis better to look like a Republican than to think like one.

Shouldn't the Salvation army be part of the "Working surge?"

I can almost smell the urine! And an STD - they have a cream for that, right?

Cool trip, Monkey--Asheville is one of our "target cities" for when we get the hell outta where we are; it all depends on The Kat's job prospects, of course. Have a great time, and be sure to make your own contribution to that urine smell--mark that territory!

The lady who made that Monkey dress lives in Minneapolis. I just saw her at a craft show and thought of you!
