This little critter is a white squirrel. It's not an albino because it doesn't have the red eyes, it's just a white squirrel. He/she has been hanging around our place for the past few years but this was the first time I saw it when I had my camera with me. The variety of things in nature never ceases to amaze me.

that is so cool...a white squirrel. i guess MItt Romney or Tom Tancredo wont deport it
wow, never seen one of them critters before!
I've never seen a non-albino white squirrel. I lived at the beach in Delaware, and albino squirrels are very common there for some reason.
Very cool pictures!
That is very cool. Me likee.
When I was living in White Plains, NY in the 80's I think, apparently there was one brown squirrel. Anyway, it was seen frolicking among the gray ones.
As the years progressed, there were more and more brown ones.
Just don't tell the flat earth types.
(this is actually true.)
Tres cool! Are you sure it's not an albino squirrel? We used to drive down to my grandparents home in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passing through Olney, which touts itself as "Home of the White Squirrel".
You can see some pics here. It doesn't appear that the albino squirrels have pink eyes.
I have never seen one of those, that's very cool. Around here we have black squirrels--it's a mutation of your standard gray squirrel that seems to be unique to Chicago and the north suburbs.
Wow! I have never seen one of those squirrels! We have lots of squirrels around the surrounding mountains near hear, but I had never seen a white one! (not even on TV!)
Distributor Cap's comment was hilarious!
Let me add another round of "I've never seen that before." That's pretty goddamn cool!
Awesome shots! My cat would love to stalk that critter through the window.
We have an albino squirrel and a black squirrel who hang out together in our neighborhood.
This is some Island of Dr. Moreau, messin' with the forces of nature monkeyshines, isn't it? It's half bunny and half squirrel or some other such nonsense cooked up in your messed up monkey mind!
Confess!
WOW WOW WOW!!! This is awesome, Monkey! Thanks! I may have to link to it on my birdy blog.
Dcap-Let's hope it has a visa.
Lib-I know! Me either. It freaked me out the first time I saw it. I could not believe my eyes.
CDP-Thanks. I love the Delaware beach area. We vacationed in Rehobeth one year, it was ever so cool.
Fran-There is a furniture store in Knoxville called Brown Squirrel, now I'll think of you every time I see one of their ads.
Splotchy-I could be wrong, it may be an albino. Or it may be Capt. Lou Albano.
Bubs-Black squirrels would be neat to see I bet.
Micgar-Don't encourage Dcap, he may end up in Gitmo one day and take all of us with him. (Just kidding Dcap.)
Randal-It is, isn't it.
Missy-Ebony and ivory.
Matty Boy-Damn you! You found me out! I'll get you for this!
Dguzman-Link away dear.
I have! I have!
...well almost...
There are white tailed squirrels that live in DeKalb. Apparently they are a new offshoot breed or something. I thought I was crazy when I saw them running around and when I told others they also thought I was crazy until there was a story in the local paper.
Quite cool pictures!
We have a white squirrel in my neighborhood, but I don't know what color his eyes are because he's never invited me out for drinks.
Snob.
S/he is so beautiful. Nature is the only true thing. Thanks for posting this.
Where are the white supremacists whenever there's a white squirrel around? Come on, people, don't you just love a frothing nutter who would call a squirrel Aryan or Teutonic, just because it's leucomorphic?
