Let me tell you what I liked about this film:
1) That fat guy Jonah Goldberg
2) Paul Rudd
3) The two little girls
4) Katherine Whatshername (for the most part, I mean come on, she is nice to look at for 4 and a half hours)
5) The deleted scenes
6) The soundtrack
7) The scene where that black guy from The Office breaks down and admits how much he hates his job working the door at that nightclub
8) The geeky Asian gal who played the guy with the beard's girlfriend
9) Harold Ramis's performance
I hated the following things about this movie:
1) It ran for 4 and a half freaking hours. Seriously, could you pad this damn movie with more superfluous scenes?
2) The supposed chemistry between Katherine Whatshername and Seth Rogan. I'm sorry did I miss it? Was it there?
3) The "stoner"humor. Maybe since I quit smoking pot about 12 or so years ago I don't find kids sitting around getting high funny anymore, or maybe the "stoner" humor in this film wasn't very "funny." But just so you know that I am not an old fogey who hates pot smoking comedies all together, I love love loved Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. And the reason why I loved it so much was that it was well written, well acted, and above all FUNNY.
4) All the misogyny. You got stoned man children saying awful things about women for 4 and a half hours, ick. And yes, they made the female leads look bitchy and castrating as they could but still I found the "jokes" about them to be unfunny.
Don't get me wrong kids I love love loved The 40 Year Old Virgin and it had plenty of sex jokes and shenanigans in it but this offering from the same director kind of fell flat for me. Yes, I laughed at some of the jokes and gags but over all, eh, this one I could have lived without. And I had such high hopes for it.
No worries boys and girls, I still have super high hopes for Judd Apatow's next film to hit DVD, Super Bad.

4 and a half hours?!
Are you sure you weren't watching Lawrence Of Arabia?
#7 and #9 were my favorite parts of the movie.
I liked the movie. I agree about the chemistry, the treatment of women, and the stoner jokes, but I guess I just let those slide.
Maybe Paul Rudd just made me forget all the other things. His character was awesome. The fantasy baseball thing was hilarious and sad at the same time.
I liked this movie too, but not nearly as much as Superbad.
Superbad made me want to corrupt Michael Cera as only an "older woman" can...
And, 4-1/2 hours? Did we watch the same movie?
Splotchy-Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit. It just seemed like 4 and a half hours.
Missy-I agree with you on Paul Rudd. He generally steals the show in whatever movie he is in.
Whiskey-If you ever do corrupt that young man please video tape it and put it on teh internets. ;)
I liked the movie too...not as much as 40 YOV, but I thought it was pretty funny. I'm looking forward to the DVD release of Superbad, I missed it when it was out.
I trust your judgment, Dr M. SInce you declared your love for Harold and Kumar and the 40 Year Old Virgin, both of which I thought were worthy films, I will give the current one a pass.
I have heard good things about Super Bad though!
SuperBad is MUCH better than this movie.
I have to agree with you on the fact that it seemed to go on forever.
CDP-Let's watch Super Bad together!
Barb-I'm honored you trust me.
Mother-It was almost the film that had no end.
I was ambivalent about this film. Paul Rudd was good, Katherine Heigel was good at times. But it was no where near as funny as 40 year old virgin. I just looked at my review of the film and apparently I liked it and saw more into it than you, but I still say it is a non-thinking comedy and that I like Judd Apatow. I also didn't expect to like this movie, so I was surprised when i didn't hate it.
I liked Superbad better than Knocked Up. Its got just a touch lighter feel than Knocked Up which i liked, but for similar reasons-one big one being the how could they get together thing with scruffy dirty-ass Seth's character and Katherine's character-too hard to believe.
