I saw this one in the late 60's in school one day in Detroit. I loved it right off. I saw it again around 1993 when I rented it on video and it was still magical.
I saw this in 1992 or '93 back when I was heavy into Jim Thompson novels, it got me off Jim Thompson novels for awhile and heavy into Isabelle Huppert.

Happy Birthday! (told you)
Hasn't she got that rifle pointed the wrong direction?
Barb-You're 18 days early on the birthday wishes for me. But thanks anyway.
I remember seeing The Red Balloon a long time ago and liking it. I should probably see it again.
Translated, does that title mean Coup De Grab Ass?
hahahaha I can't read obviously! I am an idiot!
So on your real birthday, you get nothing.
I saw the Red Balloon for the first time during a concert for a local band called The Post. They had the movie playing on a screen behind them whilst they rocked on stage.
Great show, great movie.
Favorite French movie would probably be La Femme Nikita and Le Huitième jour.
This is totally not related, but, how are you an honorary lesbian???
Chris-Yes, see it again and be swept back through time.
Mad-You got the basic premise of the film right.
Barb-Damn you and your evil plot to rob me of birthday booty again!
Evil Spock-My favorite French film is Tatie Danielle.
Angry-I'm an honorary lesbian on Captain Dyke's ship. And I do love women, so there. Nah nah nah.

Sorry we can't all be cutting edge.
Suzy-Sorry sugar but I din't get that memo.
I remember seeing the Red Balloon on the Saturday morning culture hour (or so) on CBS, I think. It made quite an impression...
dcup: I used to watch that show, I think. It was an international children's film festival, right? The film I will always remember, and which I highly recommend, is "Skinny & Fatty", from Japan.
