Another great modern artist

From 1977 to 1982 Cindy Sherman dressed up in different costumes and took these enigmatic photos of herself doing everyday activities. She called this series Untitled Film Stills. The photos in the series are open to interpretation by the viewer, which is why I like them so much, and they are almost archetypal in that we've all done the activities pictured. I love this series of photos, and by the way there are many more photos in the series in addition the ones I posted here. Go check them out sometime, you can start by checking out the MOMA website.

She's done more photo sets since these but these Untitled Film Stills remain my favorite.

She was myspacey before the internet even existed! How forward thinking. Very cool.

She looks so different in a couple of those shots too. The expression in the first photo is awesome.

She's an acquaintance of mine for many years, so I'll pass on your appreciation. The Untitled Film stills are my favorite too.

D Cup-You are most welcome.

Barb-I agree.

Dale-That's my favorite one too.

Morse-Wow, you';ve given me the vapors man. Please give Ms. Sherman my blog address I'd be honored to have her read my stuff. And tell her I adore this series. You are too cool Morse and I'm looking forward to seeing your latest art in your blog.

I don't see Cindy often these days, but back in the early 90's when I worked part-time at Metro Pictures, I had quite a bit of interaction with her. She is very gracious and friendly person in a world where Prima Donas are in no short supply.

I love Cindy Sherman's stuff, but I hadn't seen this series yet, Dr.M, so thanks.

So evocative! How can you help but make up a storyline in your head as you look at them?
