Other things the CIA planted, oops, 'found' in bin Laden's compound
It's sad really
In his unending effort to carry water for the lackluster Obama administration Oliver Willis shows he had no understanding of our legal system or history. For the last time people, the foundations of our legal system are:
- accused people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and yes that includes people in the military for all you Bradley Manning haters out there.
- all people are entitled to due process of law, that includes people you don't like or who may or may not have committed unspeakable heinous crimes.
- torture and assassination are always wrong.
- it's better that many guilty go free rather than one innocent person be wrongly convicted and imprisoned.

Credit where credit is due
I'll give Bush credit for killing
Osama bin Laden just as soon as
he and Cheney start
taking the blame for letting the 9/11 attacks happen while they were in charge.

Big freakin' deal
So we went into another country and killed the man who we claim was behind the attacks of 9/11. People are cheering his death and the jabbering talking heads on the cable 'news' shows are screaming that this is a historic day.
Really? Historic?
Not so much. After all we've been chasing him for almost ten years and we started two wars over him, and those were in addition to the war corporate America and big oil had been waging on the middle east for decades. So, really, Bin Laden's death isn't the coup they say it is. If we'd captured him alive and tried him in a court of law, not a military tribunal, now that would have been coup.
Actually, what this all is is the empire patting itself on the back for keeping itself afloat a little while longer. It's people who should know better cheering the murder of yet another Muslim. It's a chance for the Democrats to look strong and tough going into the 2012 election season. Frankly, it's bullshit. And it's ghoulish. Were the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, Afghans, Canadians, US troops, the displacement of millions, the never ending occupation of two countries, the thousands of traumatic brain injuries, and the drain on our economy worth the murder of one man? If you think so then may your god bless you and forgive you and hell yeah, America right or wrong!
Me, I'm disgusted by this spectacle, by the never ending war, by the lies, the propaganda, all of it. Fuck it.
