And so it begins

I put the first of what looks like many photo sets of the stuff I'm scanning out of the 1961 Mademoiselle magazines on Flickr. It's a set of photos of women wearing hats and other head coverings.

I blame the late Jackie O for making hats so fashionable back then. You can see the whole set, and more will be added later, by clicking here. As usual, the photo set is public and you may steal all the photos off it you like. Hats off to all those who follow the link!

Those mags have been doing strange things to women's psyches for generations, therefore I have stopped reading their ilk. They make me feel inadequate.

WTF are the Bermuda guys holding? It is awfully phallic looking. In my filth mind anyway.

23, 24 and 37a are my favorites, but I may have to consider further study.

I love the pillbox hat. Is that 50s or 60s?

This is a kick ass festive post, simian stud.

These are great! I hope that you do a set of photos of mini skirts and go go boots next!

After looking at all those photos of hats and fashions I was prompted to study your book collection on Flickr.

The result - I wrote a brief passage that I am saving for a special occaision - written from the titles of said books.

It was that or work on my taxes.

I chose, as usual, the high road I think!

Whoever came up with the concepts for these crazy-ass photo shoots must've been hopped up on some pretty heavy meds.

Wow, these photos speak of another time. A time before SUV's, before cell phones, before call waiting. It was a time when women made cakes from scratch and men were men. Oh my god, it's the time when I was in 5th grade. Oy vey.

MNMom-I see your point.

Fran-They are holding bolts of fabric.

Jewgirl-60's. It's good to see you back out on the blog prowl my Jewess Princess.

Romius-I just dig the fact that most of the women in these old magazines wore hats.

Dr. Z-I'll try but I make no promises.

Ubermilf-Unlike today's mopey ass models.

Dguzman-You ain't seen nothing yet.

Crayons-I know what you mean, they all seemed so glamorous to me then but now they just seem kitschy.

My sense of humor must need a tune up. Maybe I need a new irony filter or something?
