Found photo bonanza

These photos are from two contact sheets I bought today at a local antique store for two bucks each. I estimate that the pictures were shot in the mid to late 1950's. I'm also pretty sure that both these sheets, as well as the others that I didn't buy but hope to one day, are all from the same family/estate. These two that I bought today are full of photos of this family's home, their maid, their pets, and a trip to the race track. I love these so much it hurts.

I'll post the rest of these on my scan blog.

My ignorance is showing - what's a contact sheet? Great photos!

I always find it unnerving to come across abandoned photos and photo albums at yard sales or flea markets. Seems like such a waste. Such a loss of ... I don't know. Family? Sad.

Contact sheets are sheets with thumbnails of all the photos that were shot on a roll of film.

I used to feel that way Joe, but now that I can share what I find, I'm loving finding old photos.

These photos look like they could have come from my husband's family album. Can't wait to see more.

These photos are so lovely. I always try to imagine what the stories are that go along with each captured moment in time.
Just think- in the future, no one will be able to find a glorious box of photos @ a garage sale, because they'll all be stored on outmoded computer equipment, which no one will be able to read.
That makes me sad.
