The building that my favorite local sign sits on top of is up for sale. So I went by and took more photos of it before some Philistine buys it and tears it down. Here's three of the photos I took of it the other day:
I concur - look into buying the sign if the building is most likely to go as a tear-down. There are people in groups like the Society for Commercial Archeology (their passion is roadside stuff, like motor courts, muffler men, neon, diners, etc.) who would cheerfully take it off your hands if you didn't want to keep it permanently.

Buy it. It would make a nice piece of garden sculpture.
I agree with Kirby, buy it. But then use it as a fake front to your secret underground lair.
Any chance you could liberate it before it's thrown away? Maybe the new owners would like someone to shoulder the cost of taking it down. Just saying.
