Michelle Dockery played Susan Sto Helit (aka DEATH's granddaughter) in Terry Pratchett's 'Hogfather' on TV/DVD a couple of years back. DEATH speaks in Capital Letters in pTerry's Discworld novels; this is known as THE VOICE and is very persuasive.
My mistake, assuming you were familiar with Discworld Books/DVDs :-(

I read a few Pratchett discworld books. I'm not a huge fan of them. They aren't as clever or as funny as some make them out to be.
