Wow. I could not love this show about a woman, Toni Collette, who suffers from multiple personality disorder more than I do now. We got the first disc and watched the episodes straight through and then ran to the video store the next day to get the second disc so we could finish the first season.

It doesn't make light of this serious psychological disorder, instead it treats it as it is, a disease to be dealt with and treated medically. Tara's 'alters,' which stands for alter egos, are totally believable and when she segues into them she creates totally separate and new characters. Collette, who has done some really good work in the past, most notably in About a Boy and Muriel's Wedding, really shines in her lead role in this series created by Diablo Cody. The rest of the supporting cast are winners as well, especially Nate Corddry as the creepy restaurant manager.

This is comes highly recommended by me and I can't wait to see the next season's shows.

You'd think after 4 seasons of Weeds that the story might start to become stale and the characters boring. Well sunshine, if you thought that then you'd be oh so wrong. For my money, season 5 of Weeds was the best one yet.

Nancy's decision making still stinks but if it didn't there would not be a show. This season her bad choices really begin to wear on her sons, her romance/marriage with the drug kingpin/politician, her 'friends', and anyone who has ever come into her orbit. The Mexican characters, especially the body guards and the cold as ice Pilar, played to perfection by Kate del Castillo, rock hard this season.

I won't say much more about the episodes so as not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but the ending of this season is one of the best ever and I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what happens as a result of the shocking season ending twist. Also, whoever decided to cast Alanis Morissette and Jennifer Jason Leigh in this season's shows is a feckin' genius.

One final note on this series in general, it's obvious that the Emmy voters are never going to give this show any awards, even though it's been nominated 19 times. But if they got that stick out of their ass and stopped being afraid of voting for a show about drug dealing to win an Emmy then they'd give Kevin Nealon and or Elizabeth Perkins the Emmy every year for being such great supporting actors in this series.

If you have never seen Weeds, then I highly recommend it. And if you haven't seen season 5 of Weeds yet, prepare to be wowed, amused, and shocked, although not necessarily in that order.
