Go gently in to that good night

Teddy's dead. That's what I said.

He had his faults and all but coming from a privileged background like he did, he did a hell of a lot for the working people of this country. He'll be missed.

Expect the hate for him by the right to bubble up like lava in a volcano. I imagine they'll be dancing in the halls at Liberty University, the 700 Club, and Focus on the Family.

It was an American trip, an uplifting one--to watch him slowly turn from a callow, selfish pup into a thinking grown-up and then, increasingly, into a lion for the good. "He was a man, take him for all in all." Thank you, Teddy.

I usually don't talk about politics at all. I'm not on the right or left. I'm probably more libertarian than anything. Whether someone liked this man and his contributions to our country or not, he and his family have had a lasting legacy on our country. May he rest in peace.

He more than made up for his transgressions of the past. He fought for the underdog and downtrodden. He will be missed in the Senate - for sure! R.I.P.

I'm also now in the mood to fight my rightwingnut friends and family - well, actually I've been doing this all along.

Margaret's comment is the best one I've read today so far.

A man elected by the people, who truly cared for the people he worked for, and who fought tough battles for them.
He worked with fellow politicians of every stripe.
A politician who knew why he was there and for whom he was beholden.
RIP Ted Kennedy...you rose above your own shortcomings to become a true American hero.

I never was a big fan of the "Kennedy's" and this guy definately did some screwed up things. On the other hand, I respected Ted for fighting the good fight whether I agreed with him or not. I'm truly saddened by his passing.
