Thinking...I'm still thinking...
It couldn't be because Caroline came out and supported Obama so early was it? Hillary wouldn't want to see a female not get her seat because she's jealous. Would she? Nah, the saint who inspired so many females, the one who put a million cracks inthe glass ceiling, the woman who almost became the nominee wouldn't be that petty and unforgiving. Or maybe not.

That's 18 million cracks buster ... and there are a number of women vying for the seat that have paid their dues.
I see you are still being a putz, Monkey Man.
BAC
She may be from a politically connected family but that doesn't qualify her to be a Senator just like being first lady didn't prepare Hillary to be president. And I'd rather have the most qualified person in a political position/office rather than someone who's there because of her gender.
Bac-I see you hardcore Clintonites still hate anyone with an opinion that is different than your own.
OY - here I go. As a hard-core Clinton PUMA - I would LOVE to see Caroline Kennedy in the Senator's old seat.
Does that make me a blasphemer?
Hmmmm...I like Caroline Kennedy - but truly don't believe she has the qualifications. I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. This will be interesting though.
Okay okay folks, save it for the ring.
I kinda have to agree with Captain Karen--I would think Hillary's a little concerned about Caroline's lack of political experience. The constituents would go from having a powerful experienced legislator to having a charismatic but inexperienced one. That might not be the best thing, especially in these shitty times. Still, she'll have powerful alliances and advisors to draw on when she needs help.
There's no reason or need to speculate whether Hillary's jealous. She may just be thinking about the welfare of her old constituents.
Maybe Hillary is just rooting for The Nanny (Fran Drescher) to get it. I hope not, but maybe.
I was a Hillary supporter and I think CK would make a great Senator. And I think that Hillary herself hasn't said a thing (and notably, neither has Barack Obama); it's apparently some of her supporters who have raised objections. I can see why people have an issue with the "dynastic" aspect, but it's not like she's been idle for all these years. She's a lawyer, Constitutional scholar and has raised tremendous amounts of money for public schools and other good causes. If I lived in NY, I'd want to see her appointed, and she'd get my vote for re-election.
CDP-For all those reasons you gave and a million more, I agree with you.
btw...isn't CK still married? Where is the hubby these days?
i seem to recall that when sonny bono hit a tree and died, his widow was appointed to his seat.
kennedy has to have at least as much expereince as she did.
Who says there's any advantage to being an experienced legislator? She'll have staff to read the bills and frame her own legislation (if she even chooses to sponsor anything at first), and the Kennedy name to open any door she wants opened. Plus, the President will be in her camp -- talk about powerful alliances...
The idea of another member of an oligarchic family being handed another office makes me nauseated. If she gets picked, I'll vote Green in 2010. Same goes for that other empty suit, Andrew Cuomo.
Can I be shallow here? Maybe it's because she is prettier? ;-)
