Not only did Ms. Torres, age 41, blow her competitors out of the water at the Olympic trials, she set a new American record in the 50 meter freestyle event.
Oh yeah, did I mention that she's only 4 years younger than I am?
I'll be rooting for Dara when she gets in the pool at the Beijing Olympics and races against women half her age in about a month. I'm sure her daughter will be rooting for her as well.
Thanks for doing a great thing for all of us over 40's Dara and thanks for giving me a reason to post some pictures of a blonde chick in a bikini.

hey, that made my morning. thanks.
Damn. 41 and still competing in the Olympics. Props to her! She'll be swimming with women half her age.
Puts me to shame, but way to to girl!!!
I'm so thrilled for her. And it will be fun for her to remind all of the little punks on the team that she's old enough to be their mama.
She and I are only one year apart in age, and I think it's great that she's competing. I always have a special place in my heart for women "my age" who are kicking major butt.
And she's hot, you just can't get around that!
So I'm 48, 41 seems pretty close, but at 41 I sure wasn't doing the 25 mile hikes I did at 25, and I was never that good looking at any age. At the risk of sounding chauvinistic, "Damn, Lady!"
I saw her this morning on TV. Holy crap she looks good. Plus, to make sure no one can say she dopes up to be that awesome, she takes extra drug tests and does them more often than the other athletes.
She looks better at 41 than I have ever looked in my whole life.
Yowsa! Thanks for the great pictures.
Cool.
(Although that bottom picture makes me think there's some sort of olympic baby-throwing bikini competition that I didn't know about.)
I usually avoid watching the human tricks, but for her, I'll make an exception.
Amazing!
Dara is my hero. She's going to crush those twenty year olds!
God lord, Monkey, that makes us the same age, exactly!
day-um! you go Dara!!!! kick some butt in bejing!
OK. Whoever she is, I officially hate her.
Wow. I hope she does well, even though I'm not supporting the Beijing Olympics.
i read an article saying her training facility is in my home town (coral springs, fl)... thinking about moving back in with mom and dad now...
