I am stoked that I got called for jury duty! I've been wanting to do this my whole adult life. Of course I'll keep quiet about whatever case I may serve on while it's going on, but after it's over, Katie bar the door because I'll be writing all about it. Knowing my luck though, some smart assed lawyer will get me dismissed. But until then you can bet I'll be waiting with bated breath for my chance to serve.

I got called a few years ago, and I was dying to do it. But the case was "settled" while we all sat there cooling our heels. It was a disappointment.

Well, that's kind of cool, eh? I just hope it isn't some really nasty, depressing, traumatizing child rape case or something like that. That would kill me.
I have done jury duty a few times. It was fun, except for once. I truly think everyone should do it and it bugs me when people do everything in their power (including lie) to get out of it.
Congratulations! Mr. Dewey was called for jury duty once; he was slated to appear 3 days after we moved down here, so we had to beg off. He was disappointed. Besides voting, I think it is the most important civic duty we can perform. I wait and I hope...
I got called for jury duty the day after Memorial Day last month. I left work early and drove all the way back home, only to find out it had been cancelled.
At least I didn't have to go back to work. :)

I served on one for a medical malpractice suit several years ago.
It was a neat experience, and one in which I felt like I was doing something very important.
I felt really proud and humbled, and felt an unexpectedly strong pride in being a U.S. citizen fulfilling a civic duty.
The feeling just came and snuck up on me. It was a moving experience.
I get called but always get kicked out because I took law classes and it seems just about every one of my instructors was a local attorney. Those same people bring a lot of cases to court
I used to get called all the time, but I only served on two trials--both were juvenile offenders, both were guilty of heinous crimes (one committed armed robbery and severely traumatized a store clerk, the other beat his childhood friend to death because the friend had insulted his gang's leader). It was terrible, and the lawyers all seemed rather incompetent. I'm glad I've not been called since, though of course I would serve if I were called.
I hope you get a fluff case or something, so you can have some fun.
I got called 2 years ago, and was rather disappointed not to have been assigned to a jury.
They love to strike smart jurors. Sorry, you're doomed not to be empaneled. :)
