Five out of five white people agree that...

...covered dish suppers at United Methodist churches are preferable to being beaten with semi flexible metal rods.

But, for some reason, that doesn't stop them from asking, "Do you want me to beat you with a semi-flexible rod?"

I grew up NORTHERN United Methodist which is an entirely different animal than a Southern United Methodist.

But those hot dishes were awfully good!

You can't beat (yes, pun intended) church dinners!

Holy crap, if that's not the List family, they're doing an awfully good imitation.

MNMom-I too grew up in the northern UMC and when I moved south in 1974 I found it wasn't a different animal at all. Some churches in the north were more conservative than some of the ones I went to in the south. It all depends on the minister.

Freida-Ha! You kill me girl.

WC-Covered dish suppers are the main thing I miss about going to church.

Kirby-It's some family photo that was in one of those vintage camping magazines I bought a month ago.

In honor of you and this post I'm making homemade baked macaroni and cheese.

And blackberry cobbler. Mmmmm, cobbler.
