Yee ha! It's opening day for the major leagues! Our long national nightmare of the NBA being the biggest draw in televised sports is over! I'm using way too many exclamation points!
Will the season be as dramatic as last year? Will my Red Sox repeat? Will the Rockies choke again? Will the Tigers win the AL Central again? Will I be traded for a bag full of cash and a blogger to be named later? Will this year be the year the Cubs win it all? Hahahahaha, I'm just kidding with that last question, we all know that the Cubs will find a way to lose it all.
Ah well, sit back, relax, and enjoy the leisurely pace of the MLB season. Yes baseball season is long, but look at it this way, it's not as long as the Presidential election season. That damn race has been going on for about 15 years now, while baseball season is only 6 months long.

And it's not snowing here!
Hooray!
The Cubs are going to triumph this season!
We have Fukudome!
Yes, today marks the day that we only have 5 months to go until football season. Thank God.
Splotchy, so it's true that they're changing the name of Wrigley field to the Fuku Dome?
Did you see W throwing out the first pitch for the Washington Nationals? Shakesville has video.
I predict that the Cubs will win the World Series this year. Here's why: On Friday, my dad, a Republican who's never met a Democratic candidate he could stomach, admitted he made a mistake in 2000 in voting for Bush. He said he wished he'd voted for Gore and that Gore would have been better AND that he believes that Gore will end up being the Dem candidate coming out of a brokered convention AND that Gore will win in November AND that he'll vote for Gore. You see, if my dad can say that with a straight face and admit he was wrong about W, then anything is possible, even the Cubs winning the World Series. So 2008 is our year!
I loved seeing Bush get booed.
Plus, since baseball is the most superstitious sport (why? you ask. I'll tell you: in baseball the defense, not the offense, controls the ball) I can't believe that the Nationals put a curse on their new ballpark that will never, never wash away.
That Bush stink will haunt them for years to come. Mark my words.
Who's on first?
Fukudome.
I have to cheer for the Jays...it's the law. Normally I don't watch the National league but I think this year I'm going to cheer on the Pirates. 'Cause I'm their captain, you know. It's good for ship moral. Wouldn't want a mutiny...
Root root for the home team!
Our home opener is today. I got a free hot dog for breakfast at the stadium.
It has been snowing heavy magic opening day snow here since 9am! Twins win 3-2!
